Top Grossing Casinos
In the latest report by GBGC, most of the world’s top-grossing casinos are in Asia, with Macau headlining the list for having as much as eight top earners. Macau is China’s Special Administrative Region (S.A.R.) and has become a gambling haven for Mainlanders in China. Once a colony of Portugal, Macau has acquired its own identity by becoming a top region for gambling. Over the years, Macau attracted thousands of gamblers from all over the world that it has beaten Las Vegas as the gambling capital of the world. For this reason, it is no longer surprising to see that more than half of Macau’s economy is gambling-related.
Singapore, although only recently allowed casinos in their country, has two. The country has attracted most Malaysian locals who want to look for more variety when it comes to their gambling needs.
The Galaxy Macau
Located in Macau, this casino is all about luxury, which continues to attract tourists and gamblers from around the world. Opened in 2011, The Galaxy cost its founders close to US$2 billion to build. Since its opening, it has been preferred by visitors and guests because it is not only a casino but also a resort complex featuring six hotels, 120 restaurants, and the biggest swimming pool in all of Macau.
Guests can also relax and unwind in their luxurious spa, book a butler-attended private movie showing, or even watch from a host of shows and other performances.
Gamblers, of course, receive a special bonus. The Galaxy provides them with more than 650 table games and over 1,500 slot machines strategically spread in a 400,000 square feet of the casino floor.
The S.J.M. Grand Lisboa
Another top-grossing casino that one can find in Macau is the S.J.M. Grand Lisboa. The S.J.M. Grand Lisboa is Macau’s tallest building, which opened its doors to the public in 2007. Aside from its majestic building, guests love the dining options that this casino complex offers. It has, not only one, but four Michelin-star restaurants. The casino features 400 rooms, 14 dining establishments, and a host of world-class shows and concerts. Guests can also view the organization’s pride – the Star of Stanley Ho, a cushion-shaped diamond that is almost the same size of a standard tennis ball. The S.J.M. Grand Lisboa has 1,000 slot machines and 850 gaming tables.
City of Dreams
City of Dream may have many different branches spread around the globe, but their Macau branch is the one that is among the top-grossing casinos. Opened in 2009, the City of Dreams features a host of bars and restaurants, 1,400 guest rooms and suites, and a 175,000 square foot of shopping area spread on two floors.
What sets the casino complex apart from their other branches is its massive virtual aquarium, which plays host to a mermaid show held at The Bubble – a dome-shaped theatre. The City of Dream also boasts the House of Dancing Water show. Brought your kids along for a vacation? You can have them enjoy a great time at the casino’s indoor and outdoor play area.
The main casino area does not disappoint with more than 1,300 slot machines and 520 gaming tables in a massive 420,000 square-feet of the casino floor.
Wynn Macau
Wynn Macau is a go-to casino-hotel complex for those who give high value for luxury. Opened its first tower in 2006 and its second tower – the Encore – in 2010. The casino features 1,008 rooms and suites, eight restaurants, and spa rooms. It also boasts of more than 59,000 square feet of retail space. Its gaming area, approximately 273,000 square feet in size, features 44-mass market gaming tables after its renovation in December 2019.
Venetian Macao
While the top-grossing casinos are in Macau, it does not mean that American casino operators are off the list. Venetian Macao is under the American Las Vegas Sands company. It opened to the public in 2007 and is highly similar to its sister casino resort- The Venetian Las Vegas. Based on its floor area, it is the seventh-largest building in the world. It features the Cotai Arena, a dedicated sports and entertainment events area. Its gaming area measures 550,000 square feet and boasts of 3,400 slot machines and 800 gambling tables
MGM Macau
The 35-story casino complex in Macau is a partnership between MGM Resorts International and Pansy Ho, the daughter of Macau casino magnate Stanley Ho. The MGM Macau features 15,603 square feet of convention space, which includes The Grand Ballroom area measuring 807 square metres. The casino complex offers lounges, bars, and restaurants. The gaming area, which underwent expansion added 70 gaming tables and 240 slot machines
Star World Macau
Star World is a luxe high-rise hotel and casino located in the busy downtown Se district and is two km away from both the Macau Tower and the Macau Ferry Terminal. The hotel rooms come with free Wi-Fi and flat-screens, tea and coffeemakers. The bathroom wall and floor are marbled and provided with whirlpool tubs. Guests can also take advantage of Star World’s outdoor swimming pool located on its 17th floor.
Sands Cotai
Built in 2012, the Sands Cotai in Macau is among the top-grossing casinos. The casino-hotel complex boasts of over 300,000 square feet of meeting space and tons of restaurants. Its gaming area spans 106,000 square feet with more than 530 gaming tables and slot machines.
Marina Bay Sands
Marina Bay Sands is a top-grossing casino in Singapore and for a good reason. The integrated resort somewhat became a tourist destination in the country. Owned by the Las Vegas Sands organization, the Marina Bay Sands cost around US$5.88 billion to build, making it the most expensive casino in the world. The casino resort features celebrity-chef restaurants, a convention centre, and a museum. Its atrium casino, regarded as the biggest in the world, has 500 gaming tables and more than 1,600 slot machines.
Resorts World Sentosa
Resorts World Sentosa is the sister casino of Genting Casino in Malaysia. Opened in 2010, the casino is well-visited by families for its proximity to Universal Studios, S.E.A. Aquarium, and Adventure Cove Water Park. It also features bars and restaurants and an impressive gaming floor area that the Genting Group is known for.
