The World’s Top-Grossing Casinos

In one of our previous posts, we detailed how casinos keep their money. Money is constantly flowing in casinos, and it is pretty understandable for one to think whether their revenues are enough to keep the casinos rolling with all its opulence. If they are making money, how much are they raking in? With all the casinos in the world, which are the top-grossing casinos? In this post, we will list them down.

For several years, Las Vegas is known to be the centre of gambling. In recent years, however, there is a shift in the gambling industry, as more and more casino operators moved to Asia to establish their empire. The report released by the Global Betting and Gaming Consultants (GBGC) showed that not a single Las Vegas casino belongs in the list of top-grossing casinos in the world.

In Malaysia, the gambling industry remains robust. With only one casino to capture gamblers in the country, Genting Malaysia for sure makes a huge profit. Is it enough for them to make the cut? Find out below so you can prepare for your next travel.

Top Grossing Casinos

In the latest report by GBGC, most of the world’s top-grossing casinos are in Asia, with Macau headlining the list for having as much as eight top earners. Macau is China’s Special Administrative Region (S.A.R.) and has become a gambling haven for Mainlanders in China. Once a colony of Portugal, Macau has acquired its own identity by becoming a top region for gambling. Over the years, Macau attracted thousands of gamblers from all over the world that it has beaten Las Vegas as the gambling capital of the world. For this reason, it is no longer surprising to see that more than half of Macau’s economy is gambling-related.

Singapore, although only recently allowed casinos in their country, has two. The country has attracted most Malaysian locals who want to look for more variety when it comes to their gambling needs.

The Galaxy Macau

Located in Macau, this casino is all about luxury, which continues to attract tourists and gamblers from around the world. Opened in 2011, The Galaxy cost its founders close to US$2 billion to build. Since its opening, it has been preferred by visitors and guests because it is not only a casino but also a resort complex featuring six hotels, 120 restaurants, and the biggest swimming pool in all of Macau.

Guests can also relax and unwind in their luxurious spa, book a butler-attended private movie showing, or even watch from a host of shows and other performances.

Gamblers, of course, receive a special bonus. The Galaxy provides them with more than 650 table games and over 1,500 slot machines strategically spread in a 400,000 square feet of the casino floor.

The S.J.M. Grand Lisboa

Another top-grossing casino that one can find in Macau is the S.J.M. Grand Lisboa. The S.J.M. Grand Lisboa is Macau’s tallest building, which opened its doors to the public in 2007. The City of Dream also boasts the House of Dancing Water show. Brought your kids along for a vacation? You can have them enjoy a great time at the casino’s indoor and outdoor play area.
