Where Grand Lisboa is
Grand Lisboa is on the Macau Peninsula, in the city's central district, on the streets around Avenida do Infante Dom Henrique and the roads listed in official notices as 商業學校街, 殷皇子大馬路 and 葡京路1. If you know Macau at all, it is the tall, lotus-shaped tower you can see from much of the peninsula, standing next to the older Hotel Lisboa.
That location matters more than it sounds. Macau splits into two halves for casino purposes: the peninsula, which is the old city and where most visitors arrive by ferry, and Cotai, the reclaimed strip where the big resort complexes sit. Grand Lisboa is firmly on the peninsula side5. If you are staying on Cotai and expecting to walk over, you are looking at a taxi or a shuttle ride, not a stroll.
Do not confuse it with Grand Lisboa Palace. Grand Lisboa Palace is a separate SJM resort on Cotai, next to the Macau East Asian Games Dome, and it has its own phone number, email and shuttle routes2. Both are SJM properties, but they are in different parts of Macau and about 15 minutes apart by car3.
Getting there
From the ferry terminal. The Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal is on the peninsula, and Grand Lisboa is roughly five minutes away by car6. That is the terminal most Hong Kong arrivals use. If you land at Taipa Ferry Terminal instead, you are on the Cotai side and the drive is longer, closer to 15 minutes3.

From the airport. Macau International Airport is on Taipa, next to the Taipa Ferry Terminal. From there to the peninsula, allow about 15 minutes by car6.
By shuttle bus. SJM runs a complimentary shuttle bus service from the various entry ports, and the same service links the Lisboa properties with Grand Lisboa Palace2. This is the cheapest way in and out if you are not in a hurry. Shuttle schedules at Macau properties generally run from mid-morning to late evening, with buses every 15 minutes or so on the main routes, so check the current timetable at your arrival point rather than assuming a bus will be waiting late at night7.
On foot. If you are already in the historic center, around Senado Square or the Ruins of St Paul's, Grand Lisboa is walkable. It is a few minutes from the older Hotel Lisboa, and the two are connected by the same shuttle network2.
Entry rules
The casino floor is open 24 hours a day, and there is no entry fee1. You walk in, and you are on the floor.
The rule that catches people out is age. Macau casinos admit patrons aged 21 and over, and staff check identification at the entrance. Bring your passport. A driver's license from your home country is not a reliable substitute, and photocopies are not accepted. If you are a visitor from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan or anywhere else in Asia, the same 21-and-over rule applies to you as to everyone else. There is no separate local rule that lets residents in younger.
Dress is casual. Macau's casino floors do not enforce a jacket-and-tie code the way some European rooms do, and you will see everything from shorts and sneakers to business wear. The one practical note is that the floor is cold, so a light layer helps if you plan to stay a while.
Photography on the gaming floor is restricted. Take your pictures in the lobby, the restaurants or outside.
The casino floor
Grand Lisboa is one of the larger single casino floors in Macau, spread over four levels. The mix is what you would expect from a Macau flagship: baccarat dominates, with sic bo, roulette, blackjack and other table games alongside it, plus a large slot floor.
For scale, Macau's regulator publishes table and machine counts for the city's casinos each year, and the numbers at the big peninsula and Cotai properties run into the hundreds of tables and the high hundreds to low thousands of machines8. Grand Lisboa sits in that top tier. If you want a sense of how the floor is laid out before you go, our guide to table games in Macau casinos walks through what each game is and how a hand works, and how baccarat works in Macau casinos covers the game that takes most of the space on any Macau floor.
Minimum bets vary by table and by time of day. On a weekday afternoon you will find lower minimums on the main floor than on a Saturday night, and the high-limit areas are a separate world again. If you are new to Macau, the practical approach is to walk the floor once, look at the placards on each table, and sit down where the minimum suits your budget. Staff will tell you the minimum if it is not displayed.
The VIP side of the business has changed a lot in recent years. Grand Lisboa's former junket areas have been converted into luxury hotel space, part of a room inventory expansion of over 10 percent11. If you are looking for the old-style junket room experience, that is largely gone across Macau, and our guide to VIP rooms and junkets in Macau explains what replaced it.
Hotel, dining and shows
Grand Lisboa is primarily a casino and dining destination rather than a large hotel. The big room count in the SJM group belongs to Grand Lisboa Palace on Cotai, which has 1,892 rooms and suites across three towers: Grand Lisboa Palace Macau, Palazzo Versace Macau and THE KARL LAGERFELD10. When that resort opened its first phase in July 2021, it started with about 300 rooms, 150 gaming tables and 677 slot machines, along with nine restaurants12.
If you want to stay at Grand Lisboa itself, book directly and confirm what is available. The property is best known for its restaurants, its architecture and its position in the middle of the old city, and for many visitors that is the point: you can gamble, eat well and walk out into the historic center in the same evening.
On the entertainment side, SJM has been expanding its cultural offerings at Grand Lisboa Palace, with a resident show and a permanent art gallery planned for the first half of 202511. Treat that as a plan rather than a confirmed schedule, and check with the property before you build a trip around it. Grand Lisboa on the peninsula does not have a permanent show of its own.

If you want to compare
Grand Lisboa is one of several large Macau properties, and which one suits you depends on where you are staying and what you want to play.
- On the peninsula, StarWorld Hotel and Casino is a few minutes away and runs its own shuttle from the ferry terminal7.
- On Cotai, Galaxy Macau, City of Dreams Macau, MGM Cotai and Wynn Palace are all in the same resort cluster6.
- MGM Macau and Wynn Macau are the peninsula options from those two groups6.
- If you are new to Macau and want the wider picture, including who can go in and what the age rules are, start with casinos in Macau: who can go in.
