What table minimums and maximums mean
A table minimum is the smallest bet the house will accept on that table. A table maximum is the largest. Both are set per table, not per casino, which is why two blackjack tables ten feet apart can have completely different limits.
The minimum applies to each individual wager, not to your total buy-in. If the table minimum is $10, every bet you place has to be at least $10. You can sit down with $200 and bet $10 a hand, and you are within the rules.
Maximums are usually expressed as a multiple of the minimum, and the range is wide. On craps simple chances, for example, the maximum bet cannot be set below 100 times the table minimum or above 1,000 times it7. That gives the house room to set a limit that suits the table without going outside a fixed band.
In poker the limits work differently. At a table with a $1/$2 bet limit, a common buy-in range might be $50 minimum and $300 maximum8. That is a buy-in range rather than a bet limit, and it is worth knowing the difference before you sit down at a poker table rather than a house-banked game.
The practical effect is simple. The minimum decides whether you can play at all. The maximum decides how much you can win on a single hand, and it is usually set high enough that ordinary players never touch it.
Blackjack minimum bets: where the lowest tables start
Blackjack is where you find the cheapest seats on most casino floors. New players are usually pointed at the lowest-minimum tables, where bets run from $5 to $159. That is the standard entry point on a main gaming floor.

Above that, limits climb quickly. Online and app-based blackjack tables show the same spread in a compressed form:
| Table | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| One table | $1.00 | $10,000 |
| Another table | $5 | $10,000 |
| VIP table | $250 | $5,000 |
| Private lounge table | $1,000 | $15,0001 |
The game is identical. The minimum is what separates them.
A few things change the price of a seat:
- Time of day. Main-floor tables are cheapest in the morning and early afternoon, and limits rise in the evening when the floor fills up.
- Area of the floor. The same game in a premium mass area or a VIP room carries a higher minimum than the open floor.
- Number of seats. A table with more seats usually has a lower minimum, because the house needs more players to make the same money.
- Currency. Tables priced in a stronger currency carry a higher nominal minimum, which is why high-roller rooms quote in USD or HKD rather than the local currency.
Before you sit down, check the felt or the small sign at the table. It shows the minimum and maximum, and it is the only figure that matters. If the minimum is above what you want to bet, walk to the next table. There is no negotiation.
If you want the full picture of how the game plays once you are seated, including doubling, splitting and insurance, see Blackjack and Pontoon Rules in Asian Casinos.
Baccarat table limits and the 5% banker commission
Baccarat is the game that sets the tone of an Asian casino floor, and it is especially popular among high-rollers and Asian players10. It is also known as punto banco10. If you are going to play one table game in Asia, this is the one you will find most often.
The betting is simple. Each player has three bet boxes on the felt, one each for Player, Banker and Tie11. You pick one, place your bet before the deal, and wait. Once bets are placed, four cards are dealt, two for the Player box and two for the Banker box11. The hand closest to nine wins, and only the rightmost digit counts, so a 7 and a 6 makes 3, not 132.
The Banker bet is not free money. The house takes a 5% commission on winning bets on the Banker's hand11. That commission is what makes the Banker bet the better of the two main options despite the charge. On a standard mini-baccarat table the house edge is about 1.06% on Banker and 1.24% on Player2. In a single-deck game it is 1.01% on Banker, 1.29% on Player and 15.75% on Tie12.
That Tie figure is the one to remember. The Tie bet looks attractive because it pays more, but the house edge is roughly fourteen times the Banker bet. On a standard mini-baccarat table it runs about 14.36%2. It is the most expensive bet on the layout.
Baccarat limits vary enormously by room. On a regulated high-roller baccarat or blackjack table in the Philippines, the minimum is USD 500 per hand for US dollar play, HKD 5,000 per hand for Hong Kong dollar play, and PhP 25,000 per hand for Philippine peso play3. On the main floor, minimums are a fraction of that.
Online, the floor drops much lower. One live baccarat lobby takes bets from 0.50 USDT, and a no-commission variant from 0.5 to 5,000 USDT4. Another online baccarat table takes bets between 0.20 and 1,000 USDT4. If you want to learn the game before you sit at a live table, those are the cheapest places to do it.
For the third-card rules and how the hand plays out, see Baccarat Rules: How Punto Banco Works, the Third-Card Rule and Payouts. If you want the versions without the commission, see No-Commission, Super Baccarat and Squeeze: Baccarat Variants Explained.
Roulette minimums and how outside bets work
Roulette has a rule that catches people out. You must place the full minimum bet on either the inside or the outside, and you cannot split it between the two13. If the table minimum is $10, you cannot put $5 on red and $5 on a single number. It has to be $10 on one side or the other.
Inside and outside also behave differently when it comes to spreading your money. On outside bets you must put the table minimum on one individual wager, while on the inside you can spread bets across different numbers13. So a $10 minimum means $10 on red, or $10 split across several numbers inside.
The payouts reflect the risk. Outside bets cover high or low, odd or even, red or black, or one of the three dozens, and they pay 1:1 or 2:114. Inside bets have lower odds of hitting but pay much more, as high as 35:1 on a straight number14.
That straight bet is the one most people ask about. It pays 35:1, meaning a $10 bet returns $350 in winnings plus your stake. The catch is the house edge. Roulette carries a house edge of about 5.3% with optimal play2, which is far higher than baccarat or blackjack. The big payout is compensation for a bet that rarely lands.
Minimums on roulette tables follow the same pattern as blackjack. Main-floor tables are cheapest, premium areas cost more, and the minimum is posted at the table. For the full set of bet types and payouts, see Roulette Rules, Bet Types and Payouts.
Table limits at Paradise City casino
Paradise City in Incheon is one of the casinos foreign visitors to South Korea are most likely to encounter, and it is open 24 hours15. That matters for limits, because a casino that never closes runs different minimums at different times of day. The quiet hours are cheaper.

South Korea also caps how high table limits can go on the general floor. On the general casino floor, the maximum table game bet is set per table and cannot exceed KRW 100,000 per person per round, though up to half of all tables on the floor may be set at not more than KRW 300,000 per person per round16. That is a ceiling on the maximum, not the minimum, but it tells you the scale of the floor: this is not a market where a casual player will ever hit the table maximum.
The practical point for a visitor is that the minimum is what you need to check, and it will be posted at each table. If you are planning a visit, the venue page covers entry rules, dress and what to bring: Paradise City Incheon.
One thing to note if you are a Korean citizen: the country's casinos are generally split between those open to foreigners and the one that admits locals, and the rules differ. See Can I Gamble in South Korea? for who can enter what.
Table limits at Deltin and NUSTAR Resort Cebu
Two venues come up often for players asking about limits outside the main Asian hubs: the Deltin casinos in Goa and NUSTAR Resort Cebu in the Philippines.
For the Philippines, the regulated high-roller minimum is the figure to know. High-roller baccarat and blackjack tables carry a minimum of PhP 25,000 per hand for Philippine peso play, alongside USD 500 and HKD 5,000 for those currencies3. That is the top of the market. Main-floor tables at Philippine casinos run far lower, and the minimum is posted at each table.
For Goa, the Deltin properties are the best-known casino rooms in India, and entry and chip charges apply before you reach a table. Those charges are separate from the table minimum, so budget for both. The venue page sets out how entry works: Deltin Casinos in Goa: Entry and Chip Charges.
If you are comparing the two markets, the practical difference is currency and scale. Philippine casinos quote in pesos, dollars or Hong Kong dollars depending on the room, while Goa operates in rupees. Check which currency the table is priced in before you buy chips, because the minimum on the felt is in that currency, not yours.
Live dealer tables online: minimums and table counts
Online live dealer tables are where the lowest minimums in Asia sit. Bets at many tables start at €0.10 for players in the region5. That is a fraction of any land-based minimum and it is the cheapest way to play a real dealt game.
The spread across online tables is wide. Blackjack tables online run from $1.00 at the bottom to $10,000 or more at the top, with VIP tables starting at $250 and private lounge tables at $1,0001. Baccarat lobbies start from 0.50 USDT, and individual baccarat tables take bets from 0.20 USDT4. The game rules are the same as on a casino floor. Only the limits change.
A few practical points before you deposit:
- Check the minimum spend attached to any bonus. Introductory offers often carry a minimum spend level before the bonus is paid, and that figure can be higher than the table minimum you were attracted by18.
- Check the currency. Online tables quote in USDT, euros or dollars, and your deposit may be converted.
- Check the table count. A lobby with many tables gives you more chance of finding a minimum that suits you at the time you want to play.
If you are in a jurisdiction where online casino play is restricted, the limits are irrelevant. Playing on offshore casino websites is illegal in some Asian markets, and players have been prosecuted. Check your own jurisdiction before you deposit. The country pages linked below cover who can play what.
How house edge differs by game and bet type
The minimum bet tells you what it costs to sit down. The house edge tells you what the game costs you over time. They are different numbers, and the second one matters more.

The spread across games is large. Blackjack carries a house edge of about 0.5% with optimal play, baccarat sits around 1% on the main bets, and roulette runs about 5.3% with optimal play2. That means the same $100 staked at blackjack and at roulette has very different expected costs.
Within a single game, the bet you choose changes the edge more than the table does. In baccarat, Banker is about 1.06% and Player about 1.24% on a standard table, while Tie is about 14.36%2. In a single-deck game the numbers shift slightly: 1.01% on Banker, 1.29% on Player and 15.75% on Tie12. Choosing Banker over Tie is worth more than choosing one casino over another.
Blackjack has its own variations. Some tables pay 3:2 on a blackjack, meaning a first two cards totaling 21 pays $3 for every $2 staked19. Others pay 6:5, which lowers the return on the same hand. The payout is printed on the felt, so check before you sit.
Side bets change the math too. On one Australian pontoon variant, the Super Bonus lowers the house edge by 0.030% in a six-deck game and 0.036% in an eight-deck game, while the Envy Bonus lowers it by a further 0.0015% in a six-deck game and 0.0018% in an eight-deck game per additional player20. Those are small numbers, but they show that side bets are not automatically bad value.

Where betting limits are displayed and when you must place bets
Limits are posted at the table, on the felt or on a small sign at the dealer's position. That sign shows the minimum and maximum for that table in the currency the table is priced in. It is the only figure that matters, and it can change with the time of day and the area of the floor.
The timing rule is the same across table games. All bets must be placed before the deal. In baccarat, once bets are placed, four cards are dealt and the hand plays out under the third-card rules11. You cannot add to or change a bet once the cards are out. In blackjack, doubling down is only allowed after you receive your first two cards and before drawing another card, and you signal it by placing a chip next to your original bet21.
Some jurisdictions set limits by law rather than leaving them to the operator. In Vietnam, betting under the relevant decree has a minimum of VND 10,000 per bet and a maximum of VND 1,000,000 per product per player per day17. In Macau, craps bet amounts must be multiples of the table minimum22. In Hong Kong, the declared dividend per unit for commingled Place bets is not less than the betting unit plus fifty cents23. These are the kind of rules that shape what you see on the felt.
Minimum age is the other rule that decides whether you can play at all, and it differs by venue and by activity. In Singapore, place-based gambling involving lotteries or betting on sporting events without a live broadcast at the premises is open to those aged 18 or above, while place-based gambling involving betting on a horse or pony race at a racecourse with a live broadcast is 21 or above6. If you are planning a trip, check the age rule for the specific venue before you go.

Common Questions
What is the lowest minimum bet at a blackjack table?
At the lowest-minimum tables, blackjack bets usually start at $5 to $15. Online, some live and app-based tables start lower still, with stakes from $1.00 or $5. High-roller rooms sit at the other end, with minimums from $250 up to $1,000.
What is the house edge on banker bets in baccarat?
On a standard mini-baccarat table the Banker bet carries a house edge of about 1.06%, and the Player bet about 1.24%. In a single-deck game the Banker edge is 1.01% and the Player edge 1.29%. The Banker bet is the better of the two.
How much does a tie bet pay in baccarat?
A winning Tie bet normally pays 8 to 1, but the house edge is far higher than on Banker or Player. It runs about 14.36% on a standard mini-baccarat table and 15.75% in a single-deck game, so it is the most expensive bet on the layout.
How many decks are used in baccarat?
Most baccarat tables in Asia use eight decks, and mini-baccarat is commonly dealt from eight decks at a table seating seven players. Six-deck and one-deck versions also exist, and the number of decks changes the house edge slightly.
What does a blackjack pay at a 3:2 table?
If your first two cards total 21, a 3:2 table pays $3 for every $2 you bet. A $10 bet returns $15 in winnings. Some tables pay 6:5 instead, which lowers the return, so check the felt before you sit down.
Can I bet after the cards are dealt in baccarat?
No. All bets must be placed before the deal. Once betting closes, four cards are dealt, two to the Player box and two to the Banker box, and the hand plays out under the third-card rules. You cannot add or change a bet mid-hand.
