Mocha Clubs in Macau

Mocha Clubs in Macau

Mocha Clubs are Melco's cafe-style slot lounges across Macau, with machines from HKD 0.10, electronic baccarat, roulette and sic bo, free membership at 21, and regular slot tournaments. Here is what is open, what closed, and how it all works.

Three Mocha Clubs have closed, including Hotel Royal

Mocha has never been a fixed set of venues. Clubs open and close as hotels change hands and player traffic shifts, so the Mocha you remember from an earlier visit may not be there anymore.

The clearest record of closures comes from Melco's own annual filing for 2013, which states that the company closed three Mocha Clubs that year: Mocha Lan Kwai Fong, Mocha Ocean Center and Mocha Hotel Royal9. The Hotel Royal club sat in the Royal Hotel lobby at Estrada da Vitoria No. 2-4, and older location listings still carry that address, so it is worth double-checking before you set out10.

The shrinkage has continued since. Melco's filing for the end of 2024 says the company operated 6 Mocha clubs3, while the current locations page on the Mocha website lists only 4 venues1. If you are planning a visit around a club you went to years ago, confirm it is still open first. The simplest way is the 24-hour Mocha hotline on (853) 2878 0233, or email info@mochaslot.com11.

One practical point if you have a paper TITO voucher from a closed club: these tickets are normally redeemed at the issuing venue, so call ahead and ask before you travel. Mocha staff can tell you whether another venue will take it.

What Mocha Clubs are: Macau's non-casino gaming lounges

Mocha Clubs are slot lounges rather than full casinos. Melco describes them as one of the largest non-casino operations of electronic gaming machines in Macau, offering instant electronic gaming that combines a cafe atmosphere with slot machine entertainment12. Where a Macau casino floor is all chandeliers, baccarat tables and crowds, a Mocha Club is closer to a stylish coffee shop full of machines: each venue has its own theme, and the operator talks up the comfortable, trendy ambience12.

What Mocha Clubs are: Macau's non-casino gaming lounges

That positioning matters for how you experience it. There are no live dealers, no gaming tables with croupiers and no junket rooms. Everything runs on machines, play is fast and low-stakes, and the atmosphere is casual. You will see plenty of regulars playing electronic baccarat on terminals, visitors killing an hour on the slots, and tournament players on designated machines.

Mocha is part of Melco Resorts (Macau) Limited, the same company behind Altira Macau, City of Dreams and Studio City, and Mocha-branded gaming sits inside those properties as well as in the standalone clubs3. Mocha lounges also operate within the bigger Melco casino resorts, so if you are staying at Altira or visiting City of Dreams, you may find a Mocha floor without leaving the building13. For the wider picture on where else to play, see our pages on casinos in Macau and slot machines in Macau.

Like Macau's casinos, Mocha Clubs keep gaming hours around the clock: casinos in Macau are open 24 hours, and the Mocha lounges follow the same pattern11.

Which Mocha venues remain open

The current locations page lists four Mocha venues, all on the Macau peninsula1:

VenueAddressNotes
Mocha Golden DragonGolden Dragon Hotel lobby, Rua de Malaca, NAPEHosts slot tournaments on its 1/F14
Mocha SintraSintra Hotel lobby, Avenida de D. João IVCentral peninsula location15
Mocha Inner Harbour286-312 Rua da Praia Nova, 2-12 Rua de Tong Mei and 10 Rua de Constantino BritoMulti-address venue in the Inner Harbour district14
Mocha Macau TowerMacau Tower Convention & Entertainment Centre, Largo da Torre de MacauInside the tourist landmark10

On top of the standalone clubs, Altira Macau on Taipa runs 82 gaming machines under the Mocha brand, and the slot floor on level 2 of the Altira casino is a regular tournament venue3. Mocha gaming also appears at City of Dreams and Studio City13.

A note on numbers: Melco's end-2024 filing says 6 clubs3, the locations page says 41. The list above reflects what the operator currently publishes, but venues do close, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Three of the clubs, Mocha Dragon, Mocha Sun Kio and Mocha Royal, were recognized as responsible gambling model venues in 2024, which tells you the operator takes the venue experience seriously3.

Games and machines: slots, electronic baccarat, roulette and sic bo

Everything at Mocha runs on machines, in two broad families.

Slot machines make up most of the floor. Mocha describes the selection as diverse with simple play, and different games carry different accumulated jackpots13. The range covers linked jackpot machines and standalone jackpot machines, plus a wide mix of themes and reel setups.

Electronic table games are the other half. The most popular electronic table games at Mocha are baccarat, roulette and sic bo5. These are seated terminals: you bet on a screen, the outcome is generated electronically, and the pace is much faster than a live table because there is no dealer shuffling or paying out by hand. If you want to understand the underlying games before playing the electronic versions, see our guides to baccarat in Macau, sic bo and casino games in Macau.

Scale-wise, Melco's 2024 filing puts 876 electronic gaming machines across the Mocha estate, so even the smaller clubs have a genuinely full floor rather than a handful of cabinets3. Slot machines in Macau generally are available in slot lounges and most casinos, and Mocha is the biggest of the lounge operations12.

Minimum bets, jackpots and how the machines work

Mocha's headline number is the minimum bet: some of its slot machines take wagers as low as HKD 0.104. That is the kind of stake that lets you play a long session for the price of a coffee, and it is far below the minimums at live baccarat tables in the big resorts.

Minimum bets, jackpots and how the machines work

How the machines work, in the operator's own game rules:

  • Credits. All coins inserted into a slot machine are converted to credits, and credits can be cashed out at any time17.
  • Bets and paylines. Your bet is the number of credits per line per play. A payline is a line crossing one symbol on each reel where winning combinations are evaluated, and your chance of winning is higher with more payline combinations selected17.
  • Substitutes and scatters. A substitute symbol replaces other symbols on the line and multiplies winnings in some games, with higher multipliers in free games. In most machines, 3 Scatter symbols landing anywhere on the reels trigger the free game feature17.
  • Jackpots. Linked machines carry two jackpot types: a Progressive Jackpot that accumulates as people play, and a Mystery Jackpot that can drop at any time regardless of the result on screen18.

For context, HKD 0.10 is about as low as machine gaming gets in Macau; the gaming machines at City of Dreams, for instance, start at HK$0.05 per game, so Mocha sits at the budget end of the market12. For how to handle money generally, see money and payments at Macau casinos.

Mocha Club membership and Mocha Points

You do not need to be a member to walk in and play the machines, but membership is how you earn Mocha Points, and Mocha Points are how you get into tournaments. Joining is free, and you apply in person at any Mocha venue in Macau with a simple on-the-spot sign-up procedure6. You must be 21 or older, and you can apply any time at any Mocha Club counter7.

Bring valid ID: passport, travel document or a Hong Kong or Macau residence card. Tournaments require you to present the original valid ID used at membership registration, plus your membership card, so keep the same document handy19.

Mocha Points are earned by playing the gaming machines. They are the currency for tournament entries: each tournament sets a points threshold you have to earn during a designated earning period, and the points are not deducted from your account when you redeem an entry19. Points earned at any Mocha venue count, and at Altira the earning also covers the slot floor on level 2 of the casino21.

Mocha also publishes responsible gaming material and offers self-exclusion application forms, downloadable in Chinese and Portuguese, and Macau's regulator runs a voluntary exclusion scheme you can read about on our self-exclusion page6.

Slot tournaments and challenges: entry rules and prizes

Mocha runs slot tournaments and challenges through the year, and they follow a consistent format worth understanding once.

Slot tournaments and challenges: entry rules and prizes

How entry works. You earn a set number of Mocha Points on the machines during a designated earning period, and that earns you one tournament entry. For example, the Altira Mocha Slot Tournament 2026 (held August 22 and 23, 2026 at Altira Slot, level 2) required 500 Mocha Points for a first entry, plus an additional 1,000 points for a second entry on the second day only, with a maximum of one entry per tournament date19. The Mocha Golden Dragon Slot Battle 2026 asked for 200 points per entry22, and the Mocha Slot Challenge 2026 just 30 points per gaming day, with new sign-up members getting one free entry on their joining day21.

How the sessions work. Registration opens at 13h50 on tournament days and is first-come-first-served19. You check in at the registration counter 10 minutes before your assigned session21. Sessions are short: 15 minutes in the Altira tournament, 2 minutes in the Slot Challenge, 5 minutes in the New Member Daily Slot Challenge19. Each participant starts with a fixed pile of tournament credits, typically 80,000, and the machine is pre-loaded: money and TITO tickets are not accepted, and the credits exist only for scoring, so you cannot cash them out19. Keep betting, because in the Altira tournament anyone who does not place a bet for more than 10 seconds is disqualified19. The "double up" gamble feature is switched off on tournament machines19.

Prizes. Winnings are paid in Mocha Credits, not cash. The Altira Mocha Slot Tournament 2026 paid 38,000 Mocha Credits for 2nd place, 18,000 for 3rd, 8,800 for 4th and 3,800 each for 5th to 20th, with Diamond-tier members winning extra credits on top (50,000 for a 1st-place Diamond member)19. The Mocha Slot Challenge 2026 paid 38,000 for 1st, 18,000 for 2nd, 8,000 for 3rd and 1,800 each for 4th to 10th21. The Golden Dragon Slot Battle is a team event: 11 players form a team, and the 1st-place team splits 38,000 Mocha Credits equally, rounded up to the nearest hundred, with absent teammates getting nothing22. Earlier events give a sense of the scale: the Mocha Annual Slot Tournament 2024 final paid 128,000 Mocha Credits to the winner, and its qualifying round gave 3,000 credits to the top scorer of each session20.

Claiming prizes. Winners claim at the Mocha Club counter in any venue before a stated deadline, for example before 07h59 on August 31, 2026 for the Altira tournament19. Mocha Credits land in your club account automatically within 24 hours of the event ending, activate 24 hours after the tournament concludes, must be used all at once, and expire 7 days after entitlement19. They cannot be sold, partially redeemed or transferred to anyone else, and prizes can only be collected by the registered winning participant19.

Cancellation. Note the participation threshold: if fewer than 80 players register for the Altira tournament, all sessions are canceled19.

Who cannot take part in promotions

Two groups are ruled out of Mocha promotions.

First, the operator's own people: employees, temporary employees, agents, successors and assignees of Melco Resorts (Macau) Limited, its advertising agencies and promotional companies, and their family and household members are ineligible for every Mocha tournament and challenge21.

Second, the people Macau law keeps out of gaming areas generally. Persons under 21, persons with intellectual disabilities and interdicted persons may not enter or stay in casino gaming areas, and the same 21-and-over rule appears in every Mocha tournament's terms25. Macau's tourism guidance states plainly that persons under 21 are not allowed to enter casinos11. For the full picture, see our page on casino entry rules in Macau.

Common Questions

Where is Mocha Golden Dragon located?

Mocha Golden Dragon is in the Golden Dragon Hotel lobby on Rua de Malaca in the NAPE district of Macau, on the peninsula side near the Fisherman's Wharf area. Slot tournaments and challenges are often held on its 1/F.

How much does Mocha Club membership cost?

Nothing. Joining Mocha Club is free, and you can sign up in person at the counter at any Mocha venue in Macau with a simple on-the-spot procedure. You need to be 21 or older and show valid ID.

What is the minimum age to enter Mocha Clubs or join a slot tournament?

21. Membership applications require you to be at least 21, and every Mocha slot tournament and challenge states that participants must be 21 years of age or above. This matches Macau's casino entry age.

What is the Mocha Clubs helpline and support email?

Mocha Clubs runs a 24-hour hotline on (853) 2878 0233, and you can email info@mochaslot.com. Staff at the Mocha Club counter in any venue can also help in person.

Can I still use TITO vouchers from Mocha Hotel Royal after it closed?

TITO tickets are normally cashable at the venue that issued them, so a voucher from a closed club is a problem. Contact Mocha on (853) 2878 0233 or info@mochaslot.com before traveling to ask about redeeming it elsewhere.

Can I cash out tournament credits during a slot tournament?

No. Tournament machines are pre-loaded with tournament credits that exist only for scoring, and winning credits cannot be cashed out. Money and TITO tickets are not accepted as entry either. Prizes are paid in Mocha Credits after the event.

No. Mocha Credits cannot be sold, partially redeemed or transferred to anyone else, and prizes can only be collected by the registered winning participant. They must also be used all at once and expire 7 days after entitlement.

How many Mocha Clubs are there in Macau?

Melco's 2024 annual filing says it ran 6 Mocha clubs at the end of 2024, while the current Mocha locations page lists 4 venues: Golden Dragon, Sintra, Inner Harbour and Macau Tower. Counts have changed over the years as clubs close.
