Where Stake accepts players: supported and restricted countries

Stake says it supports users in more than 169 countries globally, and it has attracted over 100 million monthly players worldwide1. That is a big footprint, but it is not universal, and the gap matters more than the headline number.

The prohibited list is long and specific. Stake's terms name Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, the Cayman Islands, Colombia, Croatia, Cuba, Curaçao, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Liberia, Libya, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, North Korea, Ontario, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, South Sudan, Spain, Sudan, Syria, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and Zimbabwe2. A separate page repeats the point in plainer language, listing Australia, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the United States among the places where it is prohibited5.

There is also a sanctions layer. Stake will not accept users associated with comprehensively sanctioned jurisdictions, naming Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Syria and the Crimean region of Ukraine1.

If you are in one of the countries above, the practical answer is simple: do not sign up. Stake blocks users who deceive it about their location, and it also blocks anyone who fails to provide requested identification, submits fake documents, appears on a sanctions or watch list, or whose source of funds comes from a restricted jurisdiction1.

For readers in Asia, the picture is mixed. Stake's own restricted list does not name Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand or Vietnam. That does not mean play is legal where you live. In Japan and Vietnam, for example, playing on offshore casino sites is illegal for residents, and players have been prosecuted. Check your own country guide before you deposit anything.

Currencies and local payment options

Stake is built around crypto first, but it has spent years adding local currencies so players in Asia and elsewhere can deposit and withdraw without converting through Bitcoin.

Supported local currencies include the Costa Rican Colón (CRC), Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), Argentine Peso (ARS), Nigerian Naira (NGN), Philippine Peso (PHP), Saudi Riyal (SAR) and New Zealand Dollar (NZD), alongside a broader set that also covers Chilean Pesos, Canadian Dollars, Vietnamese Dong, Indian Rupees and Turkish Lira, plus BTC and ETH6.

One quirk worth knowing: to switch on local currency payments you select that currency in your wallet, and if you later want to change your local currency you have to provide proof of a change of location8. So pick the right one at the start.

Deposits: methods, limits and processing times

Deposits are processed immediately, and your balance updates instantly whenever a payment service provider is involved3. In practice, how fast the money lands depends on the method.

For local currency transfers, most methods are ready within minutes13. NGN deposits average under three minutes, though that depends on the payment method9. PHP deposits made by QR code take between one and two minutes for payment verification and crediting11.

Minimum deposits vary by currency and method, and Stake reserves the right to set and change them at its discretion3. The published figures:

CurrencyMinimum depositMaximum deposit
NZD$5$1,000
CRC (via Skrill)CRC 1,000CRC 1,500,000
IDR100,00010,000,000
NGN1,000 or 2,000 depending on method7,000,000

Those figures come from Stake's own currency guides12.

A few rules apply to every deposit. You can only deposit with your own funds, from payment methods you own3. Funding an account with someone else's card or a third-party method can lead to suspension or closure, reversal of transactions, and forfeiture of both deposits and winnings3. Funds also cannot be moved from your account to another player's account3.

Some payment methods carry extra fees, which are shown in the cashier before you confirm, and your bank or provider may add a currency conversion charge on top3. Not every method is available in every country3.

If a local transfer does not show up, Stake's own troubleshooting advice is to verify the transaction, check the exact amount sent, and confirm the QR code or alias was not modified, then contact live support with the receipt13.

Withdrawals: rules, limits and the 100% wager requirement

This is the part that catches people out. Before you can request a crypto withdrawal, you need to wager 100% of the value of your deposit2. The same rule applies to fiat withdrawals: you must wager the equivalent of 100% of your initial fiat deposit before you can request a payout3.

In plain terms, if you deposit and then try to withdraw without playing through that amount, the request will not go through. It is not a fee and it is not lost money, but it does mean Stake is not a place to park funds.

Withdrawals must go back through the same payment method you used to deposit, unless Stake decides otherwise, and Stake may split a withdrawal across several methods3. The minimum withdrawal amount is shown on the website when you make the request3. Stake may also charge a withdrawal fee at its own discretion, and any third-party commissions or processing fees are your responsibility3.

Speed depends on the rail:

  • Crypto: no banks or payment providers in the middle, so deposits and withdrawals are faster, and Stake says they are free from transaction fees4.
  • Skrill (CRC): processed instantly once confirmed, though the transaction can take a few minutes to complete6.
  • Skrill (SAR): processed immediately once confirmed, again with a few minutes possible10.
  • NGN: up to 60 minutes on average9.
  • PHP to a bank: up to 24 hours11.

Stake also reserves the right to run additional KYC checks on any withdrawal before releasing it3. Your deposited funds and winnings are held in separate customer bank accounts or crypto wallets rather than being mixed with operating money3. You are solely responsible for reporting and paying any tax on your winnings under the laws that apply to you3.

KYC verification and account rules

You can register with an email, full name, date of birth and address, but you will need to verify before you can deposit and withdraw3. The basic step is verifying your email address or mobile number, then uploading your ID12.

Stake can ask for KYC documentation at any time to confirm your identity and location, and it can restrict your service, payments or withdrawals until it is satisfied3. For a withdrawal, it reserves the right to run additional checks3. Enhanced checks can require your full legal name, country of citizenship, permanent address, identification number, ID document, and source of funds and source of wealth1.

If you are asked for documents, here is what Stake accepts14:

  • Identity: a high-resolution color scan of your international passport, national ID card (both sides) or driver's license (both sides), showing all four corners.
  • Address: an original photo or PDF scan of a utility bill, bank statement, tenancy agreement or government tax letter.
  • Source of funds: a salary slip, evidence of a share or investment sale, inheritance, company sale, lottery winnings, a crypto mining ledger, or similar.
  • Format rules: documents must be less than six months old and show your full name, address and the issuer's details.

Account rules are strict in a few places. Only one Stake account per player is allowed, and if Stake finds more than one it can close them all, retain the money in them and ban you from the site3. You must not be currently self-excluded from any gambling site or premises, and you have to tell Stake immediately if you enter a self-exclusion agreement3. Stake gives no credit for any game, so you can only play with funds you have deposited3. Two-factor authentication is available and Stake recommends turning it on3.

Games and sports betting on offer

Stake runs two main products: a casino and a sportsbook.

On the casino side, Stake Originals are the in-house games, and the library includes table games such as roulette5. Stake reserves the right to adjust the house edge of any slot game at its sole discretion and without prior notice3.

The sportsbook covers soccer, tennis, baseball, horse racing, American football, basketball, cricket and CS2, with a wider list that also takes in League of Legends, Dota 2, FIFA, volleyball, boxing, MMA and F115.

Bets are accepted online only, including via a mobile device. Bets sent by post, email or fax are invalid and void3. Once a bet is placed it cannot be canceled, and the only way to change one is the Edit Bet feature where it is available3.

Safer gambling tools and account controls

Stake offers deposit limits, loss limits and self-exclusion7. There are also time-outs and a budget calculator inside your account15.

The deposit limit tool has two things worth knowing. First, it supports daily deposit limits only16. Second, deposit limits apply only to deposits, not to wagers or losses, so a limit on what you pay in is not a limit on what you can lose16. Reducing a limit applies immediately, while increasing or removing one is subject to a 24-hour cooling off period16.

You can set a deposit limit before a session starts10. Independent guidance on safer play is straightforward: set budget and time limits, and use the tools that many sites provide to monitor your play17.

Customer support and help resources

Stake support runs 24/7 through live chat, which is available once you are logged into your account, and by email at support@stake.com3. Support handles everything from casino game questions to payment issues7.

If you have a payment problem, gather the details first. For a missing local transfer, Stake asks you to verify the transaction, check the exact amount and confirm the QR code or alias was not modified before contacting live support with the receipt13.

Common Questions

How do I contact Stake support?

Stake runs live chat 24/7, available once you are logged into your account, and you can also email support@stake.com. Support handles everything from casino game questions to payment problems. If a deposit has not shown up, have your receipt ready before you start the chat.

What is the minimum deposit on Stake?

Stake sets the minimum deposit at its own discretion and shows it on the website, so it can change. In practice it varies by method: NZD 5, CRC 1,000, IDR 100,000, and NGN 1,000 or 2,000 depending on the payment method you pick.

Can I have more than one Stake account?

No. Only one Stake account per player is allowed. If Stake finds you running more than one, it can close all of them, keep the money in them and ban you from the site. Stick to a single account and enable two-factor authentication instead.

How long do crypto withdrawals take on Stake?

Crypto withdrawals skip banks and payment providers, so they are faster than fiat. Stake processes them once confirmed, which can take a few minutes. Fiat withdrawals vary: Skrill payouts are processed instantly but can take a few minutes, while PHP bank withdrawals can take up to 24 hours.

Does Stake have a mobile app?

No. Stake has no dedicated iOS or Android app. It works as a Progressive Web App instead: open the site in your phone browser and choose Add to Home Screen. There is nothing to download from an app store.

What documents do I need for KYC verification?

For identity, a high-resolution color scan of your passport, national ID card (both sides) or driver's license (both sides), showing all four corners. For address, a utility bill, bank statement, tenancy agreement or government tax letter. Documents must be under six months old and show your name, address and the issuer.

Can I cancel a bet after placing it?

No. Once a bet is placed on Stake it cannot be canceled. The only exception is the Edit Bet feature, where it is available, which lets you change a bet rather than cancel it. Check your slip carefully before you confirm.

Is there a fee for crypto deposits and withdrawals?

Stake says crypto deposits and withdrawals are free from transaction fees, and because there is no bank or payment provider in the middle they are also faster. Note that some fiat payment methods do carry extra fees, which are shown in the cashier before you confirm.
