Online Casinos in India

India's online gambling market is built for local tastes: rummy and Teen Patti live tables, Aviator-style crash games, thousands of slots and sports betting, all playable from a phone with UPI deposits from 500 INR.

Home › Countries › India › Online Casinos in India

India is one of the world's biggest online gambling markets, and the games on offer are shaped by what Indian players actually like: rummy and card games first, crash games like Aviator close behind, then slots and live dealer tables. Everything runs on your phone, deposits go through UPI apps you already use, and stakes start low. The legal picture changed sharply in 2025, so it helps to understand what the new law did before you look at the games themselves.

What the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act changed

The big shift came with the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025. Before it, online gaming in India sat in a gray zone: the Supreme Court had classified rummy, poker and fantasy sports as games of skill under the Public Gambling Act, 1867, which made skill-based real-money gaming legal at the central government level3. The new Act ended that distinction. It imposes a complete ban on all forms of online money games, and this applies equally to games of chance, games of skill, and any mix of the two, along with their advertising, promotion and facilitation5.

Section 5 is the operative part of the Act. Press coverage of the Act confirms the breadth: all online money games, regardless of whether they involve elements of skill or chance, are prohibited from being offered within the country6.

The Act also reaches the money. Banks and payment systems are barred from processing transactions for online money games7. In practice this is the part most likely to affect an ordinary player: a UPI transfer to a gaming site can be blocked at the payment level, which is why offshore operators have moved toward crypto and alternative payment channels.

The Act pairs the ban with a stronger emphasis on consumer protection, responsible gaming and harm prevention4. So the framework is not only prohibition; it also pushes platforms toward safer-gambling tools, which we cover at the end of this page.

State rules: Goa, Sikkim and the states that differ

Gambling law in India has always been a state subject, and the states still differ. Casino gaming is legal in specific states under regulated frameworks, above all Goa and Sikkim8. Goa is where the famous floating casinos operate: Big Daddy Casino, described as India's largest offshore casino, is docked on the Mandovi River and offers roulette, Andar Bahar, slot machines, Teen Patti, poker and blackjack9. If you want the full picture of those venues, see our pages on casinos in India, Goa casinos and Sikkim casinos.

State rules: Goa, Sikkim and the states that differ

For online play, the state map matters just as much:

StatePosition on real-money gaming
Andhra PradeshBanned outright3
TelanganaBanned outright3
Tamil NaduPartial ban; some formats prohibited, rules keep changing3
KeralaPartial ban; some formats prohibited, rules keep changing3

A site that works for a friend in Maharashtra may simply not serve you in Hyderabad, or may serve you while the state government says it should not. Our page on gambling laws by state in India goes through each state.

Online slots and how the law treats them

Slots are the largest single category on any Indian-facing casino site. Lotus365, for example, lists more than 500 slot titles alongside its crash and instant games10, and Puntit offers over 5,000 online and live casino games in total11. The providers are the same ones you see across Asia: Casino Khajana runs games from Evolution, Ezugi, Spribe, Pragmatic Play, SmartSoft and Spinomenal2.

The most visible slot studio in India is PGSoft, known for mobile-first, innovative slots. Its best-known games include:

  • Medusa
  • Dragon Hatch
  • Lucky Neko

It is famous across Asia for exactly this style12. These are short-session games designed for a phone screen, with stakes that typically start at a few rupees a spin.

Under the 2025 Act, slots are squarely within the ban: they are games of chance, and the Act prohibits online money games whether based on skill, chance or both5. So slots sit on the offshore side of the market. Sites serving Indian players list them openly, take INR and UPI, and are licensed abroad, but they have no standing under Indian law. Our dedicated page on slots in India covers the games, studios and stakes in detail.

Aviator and crash games

Crash games are the fastest-growing category in India, and Aviator is the one everyone knows. The format is simple: a multiplier climbs from 1x upward, and you cash out before the game crashes. Cash out at 2x and you double your stake; wait too long and you lose it.

Aviator is the headline game, but the variants multiply quickly:

SiteCrash and instant games on offer
PuntitAviator, Super Sixer Xtreme, Mines, Plinko, JetX, Aviatrix11
Lucky BlockCrash Duel X, Cricket Crash, Pipa Crash, Speed Crash, Cash or Crash, Crash Live, Aviator13
Casino KhajanaAviator, JetX, PlinkoX, alongside live casino titles2

Cricket-themed crash games, with names like Super Sixer Xtreme and Cricket Crash, show how these products are tailored to Indian players. Rounds last seconds, stakes are small, and the whole thing is built for a phone. Like slots, crash games are pure chance and fall within the Act's ban on online money games1. Our page on Aviator and crash games explains how the multiplier works, what the house edge means and what to expect from each variant.

Teen Patti, Andar Bahar and other Indian games

This is where Indian online casinos differ most from their international counterparts. Alongside the global staples of poker, blackjack, roulette and baccarat8, every serious India-facing site leads with the local card games.

Teen Patti, Andar Bahar and other Indian games

Teen Patti and Andar Bahar are the two essentials:

  • Puntit offers Teen Patti, Andar Bahar and Jhandi Munda as its Indian games section11
  • Lotus365's live casino puts Teen Patti, Andar Bahar and Dragon Tiger alongside international classics like baccarat, roulette and blackjack10
  • Rajabets offers slots, live dealer games and table games, with Indian favorites including Teen Patti and Andar Bahar14
  • Lucky Block's poker section includes Hold'em and Teen Patti13

These are live dealer games in the main: a real dealer in a studio, streamed to your phone, with Indian rupee stakes and Hindi-speaking hosts on some tables. If you are new to them, our pages on Teen Patti and Andar Bahar explain the rules, and casino games in India covers the rest of the floor.

Online rummy

Rummy is India's national card game and the backbone of the real-money online market. RummyCircle calls itself India's biggest rummy website and says playing online rummy is fully legal and entirely skill-based15, a claim that rested on the old Supreme Court position on skill games3. The 2025 Act removed that protection by banning online money games regardless of skill16, but the game itself is unchanged.

The rules are worth knowing before you play for money. Indian rummy is played with 13 cards, and the scoring is what costs you:

SituationPoints
Wrong or invalid declaration80 points17
Valid declaration0 points17
Dropping out mid-game40 points18

Since cash rummy pays out based on point counts, those 80 points are real money.

RummyCircle's cash tables draw winners from across the country, with players named from West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra15, though the state bans above mean some of those players' home states now restrict the game. Our page on online rummy in India covers the formats, stakes and scoring in full, and Indian rummy explains the game itself.

Offshore casinos that accept Indian players

Because Indian law now bans online money games, the sites that serve Indian players are all offshore: licensed in Curacao, Malta, Curaçao-style jurisdictions or elsewhere, and taking Indian players from outside the Indian framework. The scale is large. One independent directory lists 89 casinos accepting Indian players via Visa Debit alone19, and it filters to show only casinos accepting players from India19. Across Asia more broadly, well over 99% of online operations are licensed somewhere20.

The names you will see most are international operators with India-facing versions:

OperatorWhat it offers
Stake37,787 casino games, 7,574 sports markets, INR alongside BTC and ETH21
BC.GAME1,000+ slots, live dealer tables, crash and original games, sports betting across 80+ sports, one wallet, 24/7 support22
ParimatchSports betting, prediction markets, esports, casino and live casino24
BitStarzBitcoin casino with games from Pragmatic Play, Platipus, Booming Games, Belatra and BGaming25

We review these individually, including Stake, BCGame, BitStarz and Casino Khajana.

India-focused brands sit alongside them. Casino Khajana is built for Indian players, with INR accounts, Teen Patti, Andar Bahar, Aviator, Crazy Time, MONOPOLY Live, Lightning Roulette and Dragon Tiger among its popular games2. Lotus365 and Puntit serve the same audience11.

If you are traveling rather than playing from home, our page on gambling trips abroad from India looks at destinations where casino play is fully licensed.

Payments: UPI, Paytm and crypto

Deposits are where Indian online gambling feels most local. UPI is the standard: you approve the payment in your GPay, PhonePe or Paytm app and funds are credited instantly to your gaming wallet3.

Payments: UPI, Paytm and crypto

Casino Khajana is a good example of the full range:

Method typeOptions
UPIGoogle Pay, PhonePe, Paytm2
BankingIMPS, net banking, bank transfer2
CardsVisa, Mastercard2
E-walletsNeteller, AstroPay, MuchBetter, Jeton, iCash, Skrill2
CryptoBitcoin, USDT2

Deposits are instant in most cases, with a minimum of 500 INR and no maximum; you can deposit as many times as you like2. Withdrawals start at 1,300 INR for crypto and 1,600 INR for other methods, and your first withdrawal requires a one-time KYC check2.

Parimatch offers a similar spread for Indian players: UPI, PhonePe, Paytm, net banking, IMPS, Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, Neteller and cryptocurrency including Bitcoin and USDT, with withdrawals typically completed within 24 hours depending on the method26. LuckyTaj takes UPI, Paytm, GPay, net banking and crypto12.

Crypto matters because of the payment ban noted earlier: banks are barred from processing online money game transactions7, so Bitcoin and USDT are the channels that cannot be blocked at the banking layer. The trade-off is price volatility and less recourse if something goes wrong. Stake, for instance, requires you to wager 100% of the value of a deposit before requesting a withdrawal, reserves the right to run additional KYC on any withdrawal, and may charge withdrawal fees at its discretion27. Our page on gambling payments in India compares the methods, and tax on gambling winnings in India covers what you owe the tax office.

Self-exclusion and safer gambling tools

If gambling stops being fun, the tools exist, but in India you have to use them yourself. There is no single universal self-exclusion register covering all Indian gambling or gaming platforms, so you need to act at platform level and add your own device, banking and behavioral controls4.

Self-exclusion itself is simple: it is a tool that blocks your access to the gaming website you exclude with, for a definite or indefinite period that you can extend28. Operators serving India offer it:

  • BC.GAME locks the account for a minimum of six months on request through customer support, with no promotional material sent during that time, and also offers a 7-day cooling-off period22
  • Stake points players to deposit limits, loss limits and self-exclusion29

The weakness is the one mentioned earlier: offshore sites soliciting Indian users operate outside the Indian framework, so their exclusion promises carry no statutory backing7. That makes your own controls, app blockers on your phone, spending limits in your UPI apps, matter more than they would in a licensed market. Our page on gambling help in India lists where to turn, and the main gambling in India page puts online play in the context of everything else the country offers, from state lotteries to horse racing.

Common Questions

Is online casino play legal in India?

The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 bans online money games across India, whether based on skill, chance or both, and bars banks from processing related payments. Offshore sites still accept Indian players, but they operate outside Indian law, so you take a practical risk with no local protection.

Which states ban online rummy?

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana ban real-money gaming outright, while Tamil Nadu and Kerala have partial bans where some formats are prohibited and the rules keep changing. Check the current position in your state before depositing.

What is the penalty for a wrong declaration in Indian rummy?

A wrong or invalid declaration costs you 80 points, while a valid declaration scores zero. Dropping out mid-game costs 40 points. Points matter because in cash rummy the loser pays based on their point count.

Can I play online rummy for money in Kerala?

Kerala is listed among the states with partial bans, where some formats are prohibited and the rules change. Whether a particular rummy format is available depends on the current state position, so verify before you play.

What is the minimum deposit at Casino Khajana?

The lowest deposit is 500 INR, with most deposits processed instantly or within a few hours. There is no maximum, and you can deposit as many times as you like. Minimum withdrawals are 1,300 INR for crypto and 1,600 INR for other methods.

How fast are Parimatch withdrawals in India?

Parimatch says withdrawals are typically completed within 24 hours, depending on the method you select. UPI, PhonePe, Paytm, net banking, cards, e-wallets and crypto are among the supported options.

Is there a national self-exclusion register in India?

No. There is no single self-exclusion register covering all Indian gambling or gaming platforms. You need to exclude yourself at each platform individually and add your own device, banking and behavioral controls.

What is the legal gambling age at BC.GAME?

BC.GAME requires players to be at least 18, and also of legal gambling age in their own jurisdiction. It is the player's responsibility to know the age restriction where they live and confirm it when creating an account.
