How Vietnamese players fund betting accounts

Vietnam's own licensed betting framework, where it exists, is built around the same idea of a linked account. Under the draft decree on betting business, a player's betting account must be connected to a payment account at a licensed bank or foreign bank branch in Vietnam, or to an e-wallet licensed by the State Bank of Vietnam, with payouts flowing through the player account and the enterprise's account at a Vietnamese credit institution⁹. MoMo deposits: speed, limits and the risk

For comparison, USDT deposits at 3A Casino run from 3,000 to 20,000 USD, so the bank transfer route has both the higher ceiling and the higher floor¹².

The dollar figures are a reminder that these are offshore accounts held in a foreign currency. When you deposit in dong and the account is denominated in USD, an exchange conversion happens somewhere along the way, and the rate you get is the operator's, not the mid-market rate.

Local bank transfer limits in MYR and INR

Operators that serve several Asian countries often publish one deposit table per currency, and the same local bank transfer product has very different limits depending on which country's banking system you are using.

These figures matter to a reader in Vietnam for one reason: they show how differently the same operator treats each market. The Vietnam-facing channels at Fun88, quoted in dong in the first section, are a separate table from the MYR and INR ones, and you cannot mix them. A Vietnamese player depositing through a Vietnamese bank uses the VND limits, not the USD, MYR or INR ones.

Cryptocurrency options: USDT, ETH, LTC, BTC

Crypto is the second main route for Vietnamese players, and the coin lists across the major crypto-accepting sites are broadly similar. For a Vietnamese player, the practical shortlist is usually USDT first, then BTC and ETH, with LTC as a cheaper fallback for small transfers. The deposit process is the same almost everywhere. USDT: the dollar-pegged stablecoin and its networks

USDT (Tether) is a stablecoin, a type of cryptocurrency pegged 1:1 to the US dollar⁴. In plain terms, 1 USDT equals 1 USD by design: you spend about one dollar to buy one USDT, and when you cash out, the trade should happen at the same level or very close to it²². That is the whole appeal for betting. Bitcoin can move several percent while a deposit sits in your account, but a USDT deposit holds its dollar value while funds are in transit, so the amount you deposit is the amount you have when you come to bet it or withdraw it.

Inside Vietnam's licensed gambling venues, the currency rules are strict and different for locals and foreigners. Vietnamese nationals at a casino business point may only use Vietnamese dong to exchange for gaming chips, and may exchange chips back into dong only if the chips are unplayed or represent winnings²⁶. A Finance Ministry draft decree would raise the ticket to 2,500,000 VND per 24 continuous hours or 50,000,000 VND per month²⁷.

For licensed betting under Decree 06/2017/ND-CP, the currency is dong, full stop: Vietnamese dong must be used to buy betting tickets and pay prizes²⁸. The minimum bet is 10,000 VND per bet, and the maximum is 1,000,000 VND per product per player per day²⁹. The draft decree now under discussion would raise the daily ceiling for international football betting to 10,000,000 VND per player per day, with the same 10,000 VND minimum per bet¹⁰.

Foreign players who win cash prizes in foreign currency at licensed venues have several ways to get the money out: sell the foreign currency to a licensed bank for dong, transfer it abroad through a licensed bank, carry it abroad with the bank's confirmation, or deposit it into a foreign currency payment account at a licensed bank³⁰. The same rules guarantee the player confirmation and full payment of winnings, confidentiality of winning information, and the right to complain or sue over payouts³¹.

For the purely domestic products, prizes come back in dong by design. Vietlott Max 3D uses Vietnamese dong for both stakes and prizes³². The last practical point: because offshore betting is unlicensed, there is no regulator to complain to if a withdrawal stalls. The operator's support desk, your transfer receipts and the blockchain record (for crypto) are all you have, which is the strongest argument for withdrawing regularly rather than letting a large balance sit in an account you cannot enforce against.
