USDT and Stablecoins for Gambling: TRC20, ERC20 and BEP20 Networks Explained

USDT and Stablecoins for Gambling: TRC20, ERC20 and BEP20 Networks Explained

USDT and USDC run on several blockchains, including TRC20, ERC20 and BEP20. Gambling sites accept only some networks, fees and clearing times differ by network, and sending on a network the site does not support can lose your money for good.

TRC20, ERC20 and BEP20: what the networks are

USDT and USDC are stablecoins, tokens designed to hold the value of one US dollar. The same coin can live on several different blockchains, and each version is a separate token. USDT on Tron is not interchangeable with USDT on Ethereum, even though both are called USDT6.

The names you see on a deposit screen are token standards:

  • ERC20 means the token runs on the Ethereum network.
  • TRC20 means it runs on the Tron network.
  • BEP20 means it runs on BNB Smart Chain, sometimes shown as "BSC" or "BNB".

Some sites also list newer networks. One operator accepts USDT on ERC20, BEP20, TRC20, Polygon and Solana, and USDC on ERC20, BEP20, Solana, Polygon, Base and Arbitrum7.

The practical point is simple. When you withdraw USDT from an exchange or send it from a wallet, the app asks you to choose a network. The casino's deposit page also shows a network next to your deposit address. Those two must match. USDT exists on ERC-20, TRC-20 and BEP-20, and sending it over the wrong network loses the funds irretrievably3.

If this has already happened to you, our page on sending USDT on the wrong network to a casino covers what to check next. For the wider picture, see how crypto deposits and withdrawals work at gambling sites.

Which networks casinos accept for USDT deposits

There is no single standard. Each site picks its own networks, and some accept only one.

Which networks casinos accept for USDT deposits
SiteUSDT networks acceptedUSDC networks accepted
BovadaMain Ethereum network onlyNot listed
GamdomERC-20 only (BSC not accepted)Not listed
GGPokerERC-20, TRC-20, BEP-20, Polygon POSERC-20, BEP-20, Polygon POS
SportsBettingPolygon, TRC20ERC20, BNB, Polygon
El Royale CasinoERC20 onlyNot listed
ShuffleERC20, BEP20, TRC20, Polygon, SolanaERC20, BEP20, Solana, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum

These lists come from each site's own help or banking pages5. Since this is one table, treat it as a snapshot: sites add and drop networks, so the deposit screen on the day is what counts.

A few examples show how strict this can be:

  • At Bovada, USDT is only accepted on the main Ethereum network. Sending it on Base, Polygon, Arbitrum, Binance Smart Chain or Optimism results in irreversible loss of funds5.
  • At Gamdom, only the ERC-20 network is accepted for ETH and USDT, and smart contracts and BSC are not accepted2.
  • Gamdom also warns that using an unsupported coin or network may result in lost funds. Its support team can check for recovery, but recovery is not guaranteed11.

Some sites in Asia also list USDT on regional pages. Fun88 Vietnam supports both USDT-ERC20 and USDT-TRC2012. Roobet lists Tether on ERC20, TRC20, SOL and BSC13.

Network fees: what a USDT transfer actually costs

Every blockchain transfer carries a network fee, paid to the network rather than to the casino. Usually your wallet or exchange takes it when you send. The size of the fee depends on which network you use, not on how much you send.

Here is one operator's table of typical on-chain fees1:

Network or coinTypical on-chain fee
BNB Smart Chain (BEP20)~€0.02 to €0.10
Ethereum (ERC20)~€0.30
Bitcoin (BTC)~€0.50 to €1.35
Cardano (ADA)~€0.10 to €0.15
Bitcoin Cash (BCH)~€0.06 to €0.07
Litecoin (LTC)~€0.01

Another operator says USDT transaction costs are typically around 0.1 to 1 USDT, which it describes as much lower than international transfers4.

Fees are not fixed. They rise when a network is busy. One site notes that wallet fees are typically under $1.00 USD, but higher fees may apply when there is congestion on the blockchain network14.

On a small deposit the fee is a bigger share of what you send; on a large one it barely registers. That is why "is crypto under 1%?" has no single answer. It depends on the deposit size and the network.

Typical on-chain fee: €0.50 to €1.35 on the Bitcoin chain

People often compare USDT with Bitcoin because both are common at crypto sites.

Some casinos also show what they deduct when you withdraw in Bitcoin. CoinPoker lists a Bitcoin withdrawal fee of about 1 USDT15.

Put side by side, a typical BEP20 USDT transfer at about €0.02 to €0.10 costs far less than a typical Bitcoin transfer. An ERC20 transfer, at about €0.30, sits in between. These are the network's charges only; anything the casino adds comes on top.

How network fees compare with other casino payment fees

Crypto network fees are often small next to what some other payment methods cost at gambling sites. One operator's comparison rates USDT network fees as "Very Low", against "Medium" for ETH and "Low" for DOGE16.

How network fees compare with other casino payment fees

Some examples of other fees you may see:

  • E-wallets: GGPoker charges a 3% fee for e-wallet deposits through services like Skrill or Neteller17.
  • Credit cards: Bovada charges fees of 15.9% or higher on subsequent credit card deposits, depending on the card used18.
  • Crypto at the same site: Bovada does not charge fees for crypto deposits, though exchanges or wallets charge a small transaction fee18.

Shuffle says it shows you the network fee before you confirm a withdrawal, and that it charges no card or bank fees19.

For more on the trade-offs, see credit card vs crypto casino deposits and international e-wallets for gambling.

Confirmations: how long a deposit takes to clear

When you send USDT, the network records it in a block. Each new block added after it counts as a "confirmation". Sites wait for a set number before crediting your balance, and after the required number of confirmations the amount is credited to your account, sometimes after internal checks1.

How many confirmations, and how long, varies:

  • Gamdom asks for 9 confirmations for USDT and ETH, but only 1 for BTC and LTC2.
  • Bovada posts USDT after one confirmation. If the funds do not post, it waits for at least 6 confirmations, on average about 15 minutes5.
  • Ignition Casino credits your USD balance within approximately 10 minutes of a crypto deposit14.
  • Roobet says network confirmations can take up to an hour13.
  • V9Bet says your USDT balance is updated within 3 to 10 minutes4.

As a general guide, one operator puts Ethereum (ERC20) confirmation times at about 1 to 15 minutes or more for USDT, USDC and ETH1.

The fee you pay affects speed too. SportsBetting recommends a higher transaction fee in your wallet or exchange for faster confirmation, and says it cannot guarantee timely deposits for transfers sent with low fees20.

One practical upside: crypto deposits do not depend on bank hours. V9Bet notes USDT deposits are available 24/7, independent of bank working hours4.

If your deposit shows as sent in your wallet but not in your casino balance after the usual time, our guide to a gambling deposit not credited walks through what to check.

What operators charge beyond the network fee

The network fee is only part of the cost. Sites set their own policies, and they differ a lot.

Sites that say they charge nothing extra:

  • Bovada does not charge for crypto deposits18.
  • BoVegas says it charges no deposit or payout fees, though banks and intermediaries may charge at their own discretion21.
  • Betway's terms say there are no hidden fees on crypto transactions and the only fee you may encounter is the network fee22.

Sites that may charge:

  • El Royale Casino says ETH and Tether (USDT) deposits may carry additional processing fees10.
  • Cloudbet reserves the right to charge up to 5% on deposits and withdrawals to cover transaction costs23.
  • Crypto.Games says network fees on deposits and withdrawals are borne by you unless stated otherwise, and may vary with network conditions24.

Withdrawal fees in USDT. Some sites charge a flat amount when you cash out. CoinPoker lists a 5 USDT withdrawal fee for USDT, and 0 to 5 USDT for USDC15. Shuffle sets a minimum withdrawal of 10 USDT plus network fee7.

Not every site pays you back in crypto. Betway's terms say withdrawals are always made in regular currency and cannot be made in crypto25. If you want your winnings in USDT, check this before depositing. Our guide to cashing out crypto winnings covers turning crypto back into money in a local bank account.

Minimum deposits and identity checks

Minimums for USDT vary from site to site:

Minimum deposits and identity checks
SiteUSDT minimum deposit
Crypto.Games3 USDT per transaction
Gamdom5 USDT
Fun88 Thailand (TRC20 Quick Deposit)5 USDT
El Royale Casino$40

These figures come from each site's own pages24.

Crypto does not mean anonymous. Many sites ask for identity documents at some point:

  • Crypto.Games generally requires verification before it processes your first deposit24.
  • Cloudbet requires identity verification once your total deposits reach USD 2,200 or more23.
  • BoVegas asks for ID when lifetime deposits pass USD 2000 or when you request any withdrawal26.

Betway also requires that you deposit only from a wallet in your own name that matches your account name22. Some sites ask where your money came from, too; see source of funds checks.

Choosing a network: speed, cost and casino support

Three things decide which network works for a given deposit.

1. What the site accepts. This comes first. SportsBetting says certain coins are supported on multiple networks, and you must confirm the correct network shown on the deposit screen to avoid losing funds20. If a site only takes ERC20, a cheaper network is not an option there.

2. What your wallet or exchange can send. Your exchange must offer withdrawals on the same network. For how exchanges handle this, see buying crypto to gamble.

3. Cost and speed. Where a site accepts several networks, the fee and speed differ. V9Bet offers TRC20 or ERC20 and says TRC20 has lower fees and faster processing4.

How a deposit usually works, step by step. SportsBetting describes its process like this, and most sites are similar9:

  1. Go to the Cashier and click Deposit.
  2. Choose the coin (USDC or USDT).
  3. Pick your network.
  4. Scan the QR code or copy the address.
  5. Open your crypto wallet and paste the address.
  6. Choose the same network in your wallet, then send.
  7. Wait a few minutes for the balance to show.

Before you press send, check the address and network one more time. USDT transactions are irreversible4.

Who this applies to. The network rules above are set by each site and apply the same way to citizens, foreign residents and visitors. What differs by country is whether online gambling itself is allowed where you live or are staying. Common Questions

Which USDT network should I use for a casino deposit?

Use the network the site's deposit screen shows for your address. Some sites take only ERC20 (Ethereum), others take TRC20, BEP20, Polygon or Solana. If your wallet sends on a network the site does not list, the funds may be lost.

Do casinos charge a fee on top of the network fee?

Many say they do not, and your wallet or exchange charges the network fee. Others differ. One site says ETH and USDT deposits may carry extra processing fees, and another reserves the right to charge up to 5% on deposits and withdrawals.

How much is the network fee on the Bitcoin chain?

A typical Bitcoin transfer costs about €0.50 to €1.35 in network fees, according to one operator's fee table. That is higher than Ethereum (about €0.30) and far higher than BNB Smart Chain (about €0.02 to €0.10).

Does Betway charge hidden fees on crypto transactions?

Betway's terms say there are no hidden fees on crypto transactions and the only fee you may pay is the network fee. Its terms also say withdrawals are paid only in regular currency, not in crypto.

Why did my USDT deposit need confirmations?

A deposit is credited only after the blockchain confirms the transfer a set number of times. The number depends on the site and network. One site asks for 9 confirmations for USDT, while another credits after a single confirmation.

Is TRC20 cheaper than ERC20 for deposits?

Operators generally describe TRC20 as having lower fees and faster processing than ERC20. ERC20 transfers typically cost about €0.30 in network fees. What matters most is whether the site accepts the network you use.
