Where Betway cannot accept players: the restricted-country list

Betway's restricted-country list is one of the longest you will see from a major operator. It names more than 90 jurisdictions where you may not use the service if you live there or are physically there when you play².

For readers in Asia, the list is close to total. It includes India, China, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea's neighbor North Korea, Myanmar, Laos, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the United Arab Emirates². The list is not only about Asia. It also blocks France and its outlying territories, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Greece and the United Kingdom, among many others². Australia, the United States and Canada's Ontario province are on it too².

Two smaller rules sit alongside the country list. Betway does not allow participation on credit, and for UK customers the terms bar deposits by credit card². If you are a visitor rather than a resident, the wording matters. The restriction applies to where you reside or where you are physically located, so a traveler passing through a blocked country is caught by it as well².

That matters for two practical reasons. First, it tells you which regulator you would complain to if a dispute went all the way. Countries and currencies: which site you land on

Betway does not run one global site. It runs a set of them, and which one you reach depends on where you are and which address you type.

A few settlement rules are worth reading before you bet, because they decide whether you get paid:

• Odds, lines and handicaps move, and they become fixed only at the moment your bet is accepted¹¹.

• Settlement always rounds down to two decimal places. A £0.10 bet at 3.75 returns £0.37¹¹.
• In dead heats, winners are paid on a split-stakes basis, so if two horses dead-heat, half the stake is paid as a winner¹¹.

Postponements are the rule most bettors run into. For most sports, if a fixture is not played or is postponed from its scheduled date, all bets stand for the following day. A few more rules that decide outcomes:

• If a selection in a multiple or system bet is void, that leg is removed and the bet runs on the rest. A treble with one void becomes a double¹¹.
• Multiple bets combining selections within the same event are not accepted where one outcome affects the other¹¹.
• Betway can void bets if it has evidence of match or spot fixing, or if a player or team was banned for integrity reasons¹¹.
• Multiple copies of the same bet may be treated as one, and all but the first bet struck may be voided¹¹.
