License: present on the register the operator cites.

Where GGPoker is licensed and who it accepts

GGPoker holds a poker license in the Netherlands, granted by the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) in 2021, and a poker license in Germany, granted by the Gemeinsame Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL) in 2023. It was the first poker operator to launch in Germany under that regulator6. Those two licenses matter most to players in Europe, but they also tell you something useful: the operator is regulated somewhere, and it names the registers where its licenses sit.

For everyone else, the practical question is whether GGPoker will take you. The operator states plainly that it does not currently accept players who reside in, are located in or are habitually resident in various countries and jurisdictions1. The list itself is not reproduced on the page you are reading, so the reliable test is the sign-up form: if you cannot select your country of residence during registration, GGPoker cannot accept you and you cannot use its products or services7.

There is one useful exception. If you are in a country GGPoker does not accept, you may still be accepted if you relocate to an accepted country, even temporarily7. That is written for people who move for work or study, not a workaround for a holiday.

For players in Asia, the picture is uneven, and it is worth being precise about it:

  • Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand: GGPoker is not on its own restricted list, and review sites list it as taking players from these countries. Whether online poker is legal for a resident is a separate question, and in most of these places it is only legal in limited cases.
  • South Korea and Vietnam: GGPoker is not on its own restricted list, but online play is not legal for residents. If you live there, treat it as off limits.

If you are a visitor rather than a resident, the rule that usually applies is the one where you are physically sitting when you play, not your passport. That is why the same site can be fine for you in one country and a problem in the next.

Resident or visitor: which rules apply to you

GGPoker's terms put the responsibility on you. You must not open an account where doing so is unlawful, and the operator reserves the right to suspend an account immediately if it finds the account was opened or used from a prohibited jurisdiction8.

In practice, that means three different situations:

  • You are a citizen or permanent resident of a country where online poker is restricted. The platform may still let you register, but the local rule is what puts you at risk. This is the case in South Korea and Vietnam.
  • You are a foreign resident of a country where online poker is restricted. The same local rule generally applies to you as to citizens. Residency, not nationality, is usually the trigger.
  • You are a visitor passing through. You are normally subject to the rules of the place you are in. A short trip does not change that.

GGPoker also runs jurisdiction-specific responsible gaming pages, reachable from the homepage, with national self-exclusion schemes linked for the United Kingdom (Gamstop), Germany (OASIS), the Netherlands (CRUKS), Belgium, Ontario and the Philippines (NDRP)9. If you are in one of those places, that page is the one to read first.

One more thing that catches people out: your nickname is chosen at sign-up and is not subject to change barring exceptional circumstances. If you want to play under your real name, you can submit verification documents to GGPoker Security1.

Games and tournaments: cash tables, formats and guarantees

GGPoker is a poker room first. Cash games carry a commission charge, known as rake, applied to each pot, with the details on each game variant's page1. That leave-table policy applies to all cash game variants and tables except Rush & Cash and All-In or Fold1.

Tournament players get the wider menu. Formats include sit-and-go, multi-table and heads-up tournaments, plus daily freerolls and guaranteed prize pool events9. In tournaments GGPoker does not levy rake; it typically collects a tournament fee instead, often a set percentage of the buy-in, shown in the tournament lobby1.

The headline series are worth knowing by name because their results feed the WSOP database: WSOP Online, GGMillion$, GG World Festival and GGMasters8. High roller tournaments run with weekly guarantees of over $7,000,00010. There are also dedicated PLO tournaments11 and T-Builder events12.

Two practical warnings about guarantees. First, listed guarantee amounts may change and may not be current, so check the GGPoker lobby for the latest prize pool information11. Second, prize pools, guarantees, promotions, tournaments, games and features may be changed, suspended or terminated at any time10.

Prizes are awarded as stated in the tournament lobby, except when a deal is made or the tournament is canceled, and they are not finalized until registration has closed and the rebuy or add-on period is over1.

If you are new to the game, GGPoker's Online Poker Basics is free and is the sensible place to start before you put money down13. Omaha players have a separate basics guide14.

Payments: deposits, currencies and crypto support

Depositing is straightforward. On desktop, press the Cashier button; on mobile, press the plus button in the top right corner. Then press Deposit, choose your payment method, and select or enter the amount you want to deposit15.

The minimums are low. Deposits start from just $52. Crypto has a higher floor: the minimum crypto deposit is $50 for Bitcoin and Ethereum2.

Funds typically appear in your account within minutes, but can take up to 24 hours2. Card deposits are instant3.

Not every method is available everywhere. Availability varies by region, so check the Cashier section in the GGPoker client to see what is offered where you are3. One example: PayPal is currently supported for GGPoker UK players only3.

Crypto is well supported. GGPoker has a dedicated guide to depositing with cryptocurrency, and all withdrawal methods carry a flat $1 transaction fee2.

Player-to-player transfers are allowed, but only in regions where it is legal2. If you use them, understand the risk: you are solely and fully responsible for any transfer of funds or bonus funds to or from your account, and the operator may be unable to help if a transfer does not go as intended8. There is also a hard rule on the way out: players are restricted from withdrawing transferred funds that originated directly from deposits or other transfers4.

Withdrawals: fees, limits, verification and the closed-loop rule

Withdrawals start in the Cashier. Select Withdrawal, choose your preferred method, enter the amount and confirm15.

The fee is simple and it applies to everyone: GGPoker charges a flat $1 fee on all withdrawals, regardless of method or amount3. Your bank or payment processor may levy its own fee on top, and any such charges are shown on the withdrawal request page4. If GGPoker ever terminates business in a specific country, reasonable processing charges apply4.

Speed depends on the method:

MethodProcessing time
Most withdrawalsAutomatic or instant payout15
General processing24 hours, up to 72 hours in some cases4
E-walletsTypically within 24 hours3
CryptoUsually within 24 hours, blockchain confirmation varies3
LuxonPayUp to 24 hours2
Visa and Mastercard1 to 3 business days3
Bank transfer1 to 3 business days after processing4
Apple Pay (iOS)1 to 3 business days3

Add up to an additional 72 hours beyond the listed times in some cases2.

Two rules shape how much you can actually take out. First, the closed loop policy: where possible, you must withdraw funds to the originating deposit method or account, and only to payment methods where you have a prior deposit record4. In plain terms, you withdraw to the same method you deposited with, in deposit order per method3. Second, monthly limits depend on your account verification level, and fully verified accounts enjoy the highest limits3. Completing identity verification gives you higher limits and speeds up processing3.

Large wins are handled differently. All winnings greater than $20,000 may be withdrawn in limited installments of up to $20,000 per calendar month, at GGPoker's sole discretion. Splitting a withdrawal this way does not increase the fees4.

Verification has a deadline. If your withdrawal requires account verification, it must be completed within 7 days or the withdrawal is reversed and the funds returned to your bankroll4.

One timing detail that surprises people: profits from poker sessions are not available to withdraw immediately. They are held in your poker wallet for the previous 72 hours8.

Table rules and features: multi-tabling, staking and disconnects

GGPoker allows players to play at multiple tables or in multiple games simultaneously, limited only by the software you are using1. The mobile app supports the same multi-tabling9.

Staking is built in. Players may sell a set percentage of their action in a tournament after registering and before it begins. If the seller unregisters, the staking funds are returned to the buyers and are not retained by the selling player1.

Disconnections are handled differently depending on what you are playing:

  • Tournaments: GGPoker does not accept any responsibility for a player disconnect except in the case of a server crash. Extra time to reconnect is allowed during the final stages of real-money tournaments1.
  • Side games: the amount committed to the pot will still be in play in the event of a disconnection16.
  • RNG casino games: if you are disconnected mid-game you can resume at the point of disconnection. Your pending bet is kept for a duration determined by the provider's policy, and if it is not completed in that timeframe it is auto-completed or force-finished by the system1.

At showdown, if two or more active players hold equal ranking hands, the winner is determined by card value, or the kicker if the hands remain tied14.

Player protection: limits, self-exclusion and fund segregation

GGPoker gives you three main controls. You can set limits on your deposits, losses and session time9. You can set your own deposit limits and request to adjust them at any time5. And you can self-exclude.

Self-exclusion is available any time you wish from the Responsible Gaming menu, or by emailing help@ggpoker.com5. You can also select a self-exclusion period via the Responsible Gaming tab in the My Page section8. You choose the duration from this list: 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days, 30 days, 60 days, 120 days, 180 days, 1 year, 5 years, or a Permanent Period5.

The mechanics are strict, and that is the point. When you self-exclude you are logged out immediately and cannot access the account until the period ends5. Self-exclusion cannot be reversed under any circumstances5. If you are permanently excluded, you may not create additional accounts, and any attempt to circumvent the exclusion results in account closure and possible forfeiture of balances5.

If you are in a country with a national scheme, use it alongside the platform tool. GGPoker links national self-exclusion schemes for the United Kingdom (Gamstop), Germany (OASIS), the Netherlands (CRUKS), Belgium, Ontario and the Philippines (NDRP)9.
