HKJC eWallet Betting Account

The HKJC eWallet is the Hong Kong Jockey Club's cashless betting account. Here is how to open and fund it, how login now works, which apps it runs on, and how fees and prize money are handled.

How to open and fund the account

The eWallet is not something you sign up for on its own. It comes with a Hong Kong Jockey Club betting account, so the first step is getting that account open.

If you do not already hold a betting account, you apply in person at any off-course betting branch or at a racecourse, and you bring the documents the Club asks for1. Applicants must provide proof of age when opening a betting account, and afterwards you confirm your identity with your account number and password whenever you use it2. That in-person step applies to new applicants regardless of whether you are a Hong Kong resident or a visitor, because the Club needs to verify you face to face.

If you already hold a betting account, you do not need to go to a branch. Existing account holders apply online through the registration link and follow its instructions to switch on online betting services1. Once that is done, the eWallet is available to you inside the apps.

Funding the account is where the eWallet earns its keep. The Club's FPS Instant EFT feature links your bank account to your betting account so you can transfer funds instantly into and out of the betting account4. There is no paper form and no waiting for a bank transfer to clear.

To move money between wallets inside the app, the sequence is short:

  1. Log in, click E-Wallet on the top menu bar of the homepage, then click the Transfer button3.
  2. Select the wallet you want the credits to transfer from and the wallet to transfer to, using the dropdown3.
  3. Enter the amount you wish to transfer and click Transfer3.

One rule matters more than the rest: the eWallet is not transferable and shall be used only by the betting account holder to whom the right to use is granted5. You cannot hand it to a friend, lend it out, or run someone else's money through it. If you want to understand how the Club's transfer options compare with ordinary bank transfers, see HKJC FPS vs Bank Transfer and the wider HKJC Fund Transfer Facility.

The Club's payment rules are narrow by design. It accepts cash and account betting only, does not accept credit card account betting, and does not provide lending2. So you fund from your own bank balance, not from credit. If you are weighing up how that compares with card-based betting elsewhere in Asia, Credit Card Gambling Bans covers where betting on credit is not allowed.

Logging in: the question-based method ends

The old way of logging in by answering questions is gone. From March 3, 2026, the question-based login method was fully terminated3. If you were still relying on it, you will not get in.

Logging in: the question-based method ends

What replaced it is a one-time password. Users must complete the login process with a one-time password received by mobile phone SMS, or with biometric authentication3. The SMS arrives under the sender name #HKJC, so you can tell a genuine message from a fake one3.

On the 馬會投注三合一 app, the process links your betting account to a personal device using a one-time password sent under the #HKJC sender name3. Once that setup is done, you no longer need to answer login questions for subsequent logins, and the Club describes the result as enhanced account security4.

On eWin, you log in with a one-time password sent under the #HKJC sender name, and after you choose a trusted browser you will not need the one-time password again for the following 24 hours3. That is convenient on a device you own, and worth avoiding on a shared or public computer.

Biometric login is the fastest option. Using fingerprint authentication or facial recognition, you can log in and access HKJC apps in seconds4. The same biometrics cover FPS instant transfers, where fingerprint authentication or facial recognition is used with no password needed3.

If you change your phone number, deal with it before you need to log in. You can update your mobile number using the HKJC Classic 3-in-1 app, or visit an off-course betting branch for assistance4. Since the one-time password goes to your registered number, an out-of-date number locks you out.

Where the account works: apps and services in the digital guide

The eWallet is built into the Club's app family rather than sitting apart from it. It works on HKJC Classic 3-in-1, Racing Touch and GoalX, and holders of online betting accounts can use it directly on 馬會投注三合一 and Racing Touch3. Electronic lottery tickets are stored inside the eWallet so they cannot be lost and can be checked later3.

The Club publishes a digital guide as a PDF on its mobile site, and the current edition covers account opening, one-time password login, bank account updates, the Betting Combo, HKJC TV and Racing Touch apps, FPS transfers, the eWallet and the online customer center4. That is the single document to download if you want the step-by-step screenshots.

Opening an account through the Classic 3-in-1 app asks for a specific set of things: an HKID card photo, your mobile number, bank information, your residential address, and a login name and password4. To start, you need to allow the app access to your phone's location service, camera and SMS function4. The camera is for the ID photo, and the SMS function is for the one-time password.

There is one linking rule that trips people up. When you link a bank account, the mobile phone number registered with your selected bank must be the same as the one registered with the HKJC4. If your bank has an old number on file, fix that first or the link will not go through.

The Customer eCentre is the self-service side of all this. It is an online portal for managing the personal information of your betting account and related services without queuing up at betting branches or calling the customer hotline4. A customer service chatbot is also available on the HKJC Online Customer Centre, Racing Touch, eWin and 馬會投注三合一3.

A few practical points about using the account day to day:

  • You must be logged in to watch live streaming4.
  • Coupons carry a valid period, and you scan the QR code at the designated venue to use them4.
  • The Club's betting services include the Betting Account, Telephone Betting, Customer Input Terminal, Electronic Funds Transfer, Cash Vouchers, Electronic Shroff Card, Internet Betting and the Electronic Wallet7. If you want the detail on the card and voucher options, see HKJC Electronic Shroff Card and HKJC Cash Vouchers.

Fees and prize money rules that apply to your account

Prize money is the part most people care about, and the eWallet handles it without any paperwork. Winnings are automatically deposited into the HKJC eWallet, and no registration is required even for prizes over HKD 5,000,0003. The digital guide puts it the same way: dividends are credited to the HKJC eWallet automatically4. You do not claim, you do not fill in a form, and there is no large-prize counter visit.

Fees and prize money rules that apply to your account

On fees, the Club is clear about FPS. HKJC does not charge any FPS handling fee, and there is no fee for an insufficient bank balance, though your own bank may charge fees under its terms and conditions3. So the cost of moving money in and out sits with your bank, not with the Club.

Bet settlement rules can still produce a deduction in specific cases. In football, where the Handicap Score is a draw in First Half Handicap, Handicap or Extra Time Handicap, the stake is refunded subject to deduction of a handling fee, if any, as determined by the operator8. That is a bet-type rule rather than an account fee, but it affects what lands in your eWallet.

Currency is fixed. All bets must be made and settled in Hong Kong dollars9. The accepted payment methods for bets, unless the operator announces otherwise, are cash, cash vouchers and the betting account10. If you are used to multi-currency casino accounts elsewhere, this is a different setup, and Currency Conversion on Gambling Payments explains how conversion usually works at operators that do allow it.

There is also a rule for terminated pools. All valid bets in a terminated bet type, selection or pool are refunded in full, and the operator has no further liability beyond the full refund11. For overseas races, after the weighout signal the operator may ignore a disqualification and keep the original result and dividends, follow the revised result and dividends, or pay the original dividend and also the revised dividend to newly winning bets12. Both are edge cases, but they explain why a payout sometimes looks different from what you expected.

Finally, the account has a self-exclusion route if you ever need it. HKJC betting account holders can submit an application form in person at racecourses or one of the Club's off-course betting branches13. Service users are then prohibited from betting via their existing account and from opening new accounts with HKJC13. It is worth knowing the option exists before you need it.

Common Questions

How do I transfer funds into my HKJC eWallet account?

Link your bank account to your betting account and use FPS Instant EFT, which moves money in and out instantly. You can also transfer between wallets inside the app. HKJC charges no FPS handling fee, though your own bank may charge under its terms.

Which form do I use for the Super Funds Transfer Service?

The Super Funds Transfer Service uses the Jockey Club's own registration form, submitted through the Club's channels. If you only want to move money in and out quickly, FPS Instant EFT is the simpler route and needs no paper form at all.

Where can I download the latest HKJC digital guidebook?

The Jockey Club publishes its digital guide as a PDF on its mobile site. The current edition covers account opening, one-time password login, bank account updates, FPS transfers, the eWallet and the online customer center.

What happens to my login after the question-based method ends?

From March 3, 2026 the question-based login method stopped working entirely. You now log in with a one-time password sent by SMS from the sender name #HKJC, or with biometric authentication such as fingerprint or facial recognition.

Can I use the eWallet account on the HKJC betting apps?

Yes. The eWallet works on HKJC Classic 3-in-1, Racing Touch and GoalX, and holders of online betting accounts can use it directly. Electronic lottery tickets are stored in the eWallet so they cannot be lost.

Do HKJC fees or prize money deductions apply to my account?

Winnings are credited to your eWallet automatically, with no registration needed even for prizes above HKD 5,000,000. HKJC charges no FPS handling fee. Some bet types, such as a drawn handicap, may be refunded subject to a handling fee set by the operator.
