What the Fund Transfer Facility is
The HKJC Fund Transfer Facility is the umbrella term for the ways you move money between your own bank account and your Hong Kong Jockey Club betting account. In practice, most people mean one specific thing: FPS instant transfer. By linking your bank account with your betting account, you can transfer funds instantly into and out of your betting account1.
That link is what makes the whole thing work. Once it is set up, you are not standing in a branch queue with cash, and you are not waiting a day or two for a bank transfer to clear. The money moves when you tell it to, from the app on your phone.
There is a second layer to this: the HKJC eWallet. The eWallet is used for bet placement, deposit and withdrawal at racecourses or betting branches, and it handles cashless transactions1. It can be linked to a personal bank account for FPS transfers, and holders of online betting accounts can use it directly on 馬會投注三合一 and Racing Touch2. Electronic lottery tickets are stored in the eWallet so they are not lost, and you can review them there2.
So there are really two connected things. The bank link moves money between your bank and your betting account. The eWallet is the store inside the HKJC system that holds your balance and your tickets. For most users they feel like one experience, because the app presents them together.
One thing worth knowing early: the Club operates HKJC Football, the only legalized football betting channel in Hong Kong5. If you are betting on football in Hong Kong, this is the channel, and the fund transfer facility is how you feed it.
Who can use it and how to register
The eligibility rule is simple and strict. Only bettors who successfully become betting account holders may be permitted to use the eWallet3. There is no guest mode, no top-up-only wallet, no way to use the transfer facility without an account.

The account itself has rules. A betting account must be opened in the name of one person, and joint, group, company or syndicate accounts are not accepted4. The betting account may only be used by the account holder for personal betting activities4. The eWallet is not transferable and shall be used only by the betting account holder to whom the right to use is granted6. In plain terms: your account, your money, your bets. You cannot run a friend's money through your account or hand your eWallet to someone else.
Registration splits into two paths depending on whether you already have a betting account.
If you already hold a betting account, you apply online. Existing betting account holders apply via the registration link and follow its instructions7. This is the path most people reading this will take, and it is done from a phone or computer rather than in person.
If you do not hold a betting account, you must apply in person. New applicants must bring the required documents to any off-course betting branch or racecourse to complete the application7. You cannot open the account online from scratch, so budget a trip.
There is one detail that trips people up at the linking stage. The mobile phone number registered with your selected bank must be the same as the one registered with the HKJC1. If you changed your phone number with your bank and not with the Club, or the other way around, the link will not work. Fix the mismatch first.
If you need to update your mobile number, you can use the HKJC Classic 3-in-1 app to update it, or visit an off-course betting branch for assistance1. Doing this before you attempt the bank link saves a wasted attempt.
For anyone who wants to stop rather than start, the Club runs a Voluntary Account Betting Self-exclusion Service. HKJC betting account holders can submit an application form to racecourses or one of the Club's off-course betting branches in person8. That is a separate process from fund transfer, but it is the route if you want the account closed to betting.
Super Funds Transfer Service form and account details
The Super Funds Transfer Service form is the registration paperwork behind the bank link. The version in circulation carries the reference 201403, and it is completed as part of setting up fund transfer between your bank account and your betting account.
In practice, if you already hold a betting account, you do not hunt down a paper form. You apply online through the registration link and follow the instructions7. The form is the underlying mechanism; the online flow is how you actually complete it.
What you need ready before you start:
- Your HKJC betting account details, already open and in your own name4
- A bank account in your own name that supports FPS
- The same mobile phone number registered with both the bank and the HKJC1
- Your phone, to receive the one-time password by SMS from the sender name #HKJC2
The mobile number match is the single most common reason a link fails on the first attempt, so check it before you begin1.
Once the link is live, the practical effect is that your betting account and your bank account talk to each other directly. You deposit from the app, and you withdraw back to the linked account. The Club can restrict the availability of any Electronic Funds Transfer Terminal and limit the frequency of usage and the amount involved in any transaction on any day or over any period of time6. That is a general power, not a routine limit, but it explains why a very large or very frequent pattern of transfers can attract attention.
There is also a rule about what happens to money left behind. If no first designated bank account is available when a betting account is terminated, the remaining balance is transferred to a suspense account held by the Club. If the holder does not claim the balance within 365 days of termination, it is forfeited and treated as a charitable donation to the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust9. The practical takeaway: keep your designated bank account current, and do not leave a balance sitting in a closed account.
Fees and limits on transfers
The headline answer on cost is good news. The Club does not charge any FPS handling fee2. There is also no Club fee for an insufficient bank balance, though your own bank may charge fees under its own terms and conditions2. So the cost side is mostly about your bank, not the Club.
That matters because FPS itself is a free interbank system in normal use, but banks set their own terms. If your bank treats a transfer to a betting operator differently from a transfer to a friend, that is a bank policy question, not an HKJC one. Check your bank's terms before you assume the whole thing is free end to end.
On limits, the Club holds a general power rather than publishing a single number. The Club may limit the frequency of use of a Customer Input Terminal by a betting account holder and the amount involved in any transaction on any day or over any period of time3. The same power applies to Electronic Funds Transfer Terminals: the Club may restrict availability, limit frequency of usage and limit the amount involved in any transaction on any day or over any period of time6. For the eWallet, the Club may restrict the hours of use and services available, the number of uses per user per day or period, and the amount involved in any transaction10.
What that means practically: there is no published "maximum transfer" figure to memorize. The limits you will actually hit first are usually your own bank's, and the Club's limits exist as a backstop it can apply.
For comparison, other operators in the region do publish hard numbers. One operator lists a bank link transfer limit of up to $200,000 per transaction11, and another lists withdrawal limits of $10,000 to $13,00012. Those are not HKJC figures and do not apply to your HKJC account, but they show the range of what "a limit" can mean across the region.
On the betting side, minimum stakes are published and clear, and HKD 200 is the floor per bet if you are moving money in to place handicap or in-play handicap bets.
- The minimum stake on handicap bets is HKD 20013
- The minimum stake on live handicap bets is HKD 200, including principal13
- The minimum bet on in-play handicap football is HKD 20014
- Handicap parlay bets within a mixed parlay also carry a minimum stake of $20015
One restriction worth knowing: the football betting license conditions state that the operator must not accept credit card bets16. The Club's own responsible gambling page says it accepts cash and account betting only, does not accept credit card account betting and does not provide lending17. So the fund transfer facility is a bank-to-account system, not a credit system. You are moving money you have.
How to move money through the betting apps
This is the part most people actually want. Here is the flow, step by step.
- Open the app. FPS instant transfer is supported in HKJC Classic 3-in-1, Racing Touch and GoalX1. It can also be used on 馬會投注三合一, Racing Touch and eWin2.
- Log in. After the one-time password SMS authentication, no login questions are needed for subsequent logins1. You can also log in with fingerprint authentication or facial recognition1.
- Go to the transfer function. The bank link you set up earlier is what the app uses to move funds instantly into and out of your betting account1.
- Choose deposit or withdrawal. Money moves between your linked bank account and your betting account in either direction1.
- Confirm. With biometrics set up, you can log in and access HKJC apps in seconds1.
The Classic 3-in-1 app is the fullest version of this. It lets you apply for an account, manage your account and enjoy online betting, with instant betting information on racing, football and Mark Six, plus real-time odds, results and dividends1. If you are doing anything beyond a single bet, this is the app to use.
The eWallet sits inside this flow. It handles bet placement, deposit and withdrawal at racecourses or betting branches, and cashless transactions1. Electronic lottery tickets are stored in the eWallet so they are not lost, and you can review them there2. If you buy a lottery ticket through the app, it lives in the eWallet rather than on paper.
Winnings work the same way. Prize money is automatically deposited into the HKJC eWallet, and no registration is required even for prizes over HKD 5,000,0002. You do not need to claim a large prize in person or fill in extra paperwork for it to land in your wallet.
Payouts on bets generally go back to the account you bet from. The operator may pay a dividend or refund in cash, by check or cash voucher, or as credit to the betting account the backer used to place the relevant football bet18. For horse racing, the operator decides whether to pay by cash, check, cash voucher or deposit into the betting account used to place the bet19. In practice, if you bet through the app, the money comes back to the account.
There is a currency point for football. All football bets must be placed and settled in Hong Kong dollars20. If you are betting into a commingled pool in a currency other than HKD, the operator may use an exchange rate agreed with the foreign operator or any rate it sets for a race, and bettors agree to be bound by it21. So your football balance is HKD, and any conversion happens at a rate the operator sets.
If you prefer to handle things in person, off-course betting branches still do account work. Reopened branches provide cashing of cash vouchers or winning tickets, account opening and account deposit services, though not horse racing or football betting22. So a branch visit can top up your account even when betting counters are not running.
For help inside the app, the customer service chatbot is available on HKJC Online Customer Centre, Racing Touch, eWin and 馬會投注三合一2. It answers common questions including results and payouts, app downloads, and betting branch and racecourse restaurant information, and after login it can give personalized betting account information, DoubleS pool reminders and horse racing or football accumulator calculations, with multimedia replies such as videos and maps2. On the money side, the Club takes cash and account betting only: no credit card account betting and no lending17.
Question-based login ends: what to use instead
This changed recently and it catches people out. From March 3, 2026, the question-based login method was fully terminated2. If you were still answering security questions to get in, that route is gone.
What replaced it:
- One-time password by SMS. A one-time password is sent by the sender name #HKJC to link the betting account to a personal device2. Once set up, you will no longer need to answer login questions for subsequent logins, and you get enhanced account security1.
- Biometric login. By using fingerprint authentication or facial recognition, you can log in and access HKJC apps in mere seconds1. FPS instant transfer also supports fingerprint authentication or facial recognition, with no password needed2.
The practical sequence is: authenticate once with the SMS code, bind the account to your device, then use biometrics from then on2. If you have not done the SMS step since March 2026, do it before you try to move money, because the transfer function sits behind the login.
If you need to manage account details rather than just log in, the Customer eCentre is the online self-service portal for managing personal information of your betting account and related services without queuing up at betting branches or calling the customer hotline1. That is where you go for profile changes, and it pairs with the app for the mobile number update if your bank and HKJC numbers have drifted apart1.
One last practical note for anyone moving money around the region: fund transfer facilities are not interchangeable across operators. A Macau customer service counter, for example, offers currency exchange to Hong Kong dollars via Alipay or WeChat transfer23, and a Hong Kong service point at Shop 329, Shun Tak Centre, 200 Connaught Road Central, Sheung Wan, handles membership and ferry services rather than HKJC transfers9. Keep your HKJC money in the HKJC system, and use the app for it.
