Vietlott Mega 6/45 and Power 6/55

Two jackpot draws, six nights a week

Mega 6/45 and Power 6/55 are the two flagship games of Vietlott, Vietnam's computerized lottery company, which sells its products through points of sale across all 63 provinces and cities⁶. Mega 6/45 launched in July 2016 as an American-style draw game and quickly became popular across the country⁷. Power 6/55 followed, adding a bigger number pool and a second jackpot tier.

The two games work the same way at heart. You pick six numbers, wait for a live televised draw in the early evening, and win by matching numbers. Mega 6/45 uses the smaller pool of 01 to 45, so it hits more often and starts at a minimum jackpot of VND 12 billion¹. Power 6/55 uses 01 to 55, which makes the top prize harder to win but gives the game two jackpot levels, Jackpot 1 and Jackpot 2, plus a bonus number drawn alongside the six winning numbers².

Both jackpots accumulate after every draw without a winner, so the headline figures can climb far above their starting levels. In late September 2026 the Mega 6/45 jackpot for draw 01567 stood at VND 124,270,821,500, roughly ten times its minimum⁵. The biggest prizes make the news: the game's first jackpot winner, in October 2016, was a pork seller in Trà Vinh Province who took home VNĐ92 billion, about US$4.03 million at the time⁷.

Vietlott also runs other draw games alongside these two, including Max 3D, Keno, Bingo18 and Lotto 5/35, covered on our Vietnam lottery pages.

Ticket price: VND 10,000 per entry

One entry costs VND 10,000 in both games. An entry means one set of six numbers for one draw¹. That is the same face value as a traditional paper lottery ticket in Vietnam, which is capped at VND 10,000 per ticket, so a Vietlott entry costs no more than the old-style tickets sold by provincial companies¹.

The price only rises when you cover more combinations. A Bao or System ticket, explained further down this page, multiplies the number of entries on one ticket, so a Bao 5 in Mega 6/45, which creates 40 combinations, costs 40 times VND 10,000³. Buying ahead for several draws also multiplies the price in the obvious way: six draws of one entry is VND 60,000.

Everything is in Vietnamese dong. The currency for both playing and prize payment is VNĐ, and there is no foreign-currency ticket option³.

How to play

The basic play is the same in both games. On a paper playslip you mark six numbers in grid A, or in several grids if you want several entries, then hand the slip to the clerk at a Vietlott point of sale and pay³. The terminal prints your ticket with your numbers, the draw date and the draw number. Keep it: the paper ticket is the only proof of a win bought at a counter.

If you do not want to choose numbers yourself, mark the TC box and the machine picks for you³.

For Mega 6/45 you choose six numbers from 01 to 45¹. For Power 6/55 you choose six from 01 to 55². In both games your numbers must match the winning numbers but do not need to be in the same order⁵.

You can buy tickets for up to six draws in advance by marking the KỲ (draw) section of the playslip, in either game³. That saves repeat trips if you play the same numbers every draw.

The other way to play is on your phone. Vietlott has two official sales channels: its points of sale nationwide and the Vietlott SMS app⁹. To play on the phone channel you must register a betting account and a prize-receiving account, and winnings are paid into that registered account rather than against a paper ticket³. The official app site is vietlott-sms.vn, and Vietlott warns customers to use only these two channels, since tickets bought anywhere else may not be honored⁸.

Draw schedule and where to watch

Between the two games there is a live draw six evenings a week, always starting at 18:00 and finishing by 18:30.

The Power 6/55 draw is held at the draw center on the 19th floor of the VTC building in Hanoi¹⁰. Both games' draws are also streamed on the Vietlott Facebook fanpage, and results are posted on vietlott.vn shortly after each draw⁴. The draws are numbered sequentially: Power 6/55 was around draw 01402 in late September 2026, and Mega 6/45 around draw 01567⁵.

If you are in Vietnam, the 18:00 slot makes the draws an early-evening ritual: many players watch on their phones or in shops while the numbers come up.

Jackpots and prize tiers

Mega 6/45 has four prize categories¹:

If several players win the Jackpot in the same draw, the prize value is divided equally among them in proportion to each player's entry value¹. The fixed lower prizes do not split.

Power 6/55 has five prize categories, and its jackpot structure is the game's distinguishing feature²:

The bonus number is drawn from the same machine after the six winning numbers, and it only feeds Jackpot 2. Both jackpots accumulate after each draw without a winner, so at times they have run well past VND 18 billion each⁸.

The odds are long, as with any large-pool lottery. For Mega 6/45 the jackpot odds are about one in eight million, which is steeper than the roughly one in a million for the traditional six-number tickets sold by provincial lottery companies, but the prize is vastly larger⁷. Power 6/55's bigger pool makes its Jackpot 1 harder still.

System play: Bao explained

Both games offer a way to cover many number combinations on one ticket, called Bao play. In basic Bao you pick more than six numbers and the system enters every possible six-number combination from your selection³.

The combinations add up fast:

These figures apply to both games³. Each combination is one entry at VND 10,000, so the ticket price is the number of combinations times VND 10,000. The payoff is that a Bao ticket can win in many categories at once, since each of its combinations is checked against the winning numbers separately.

There is also a cheaper half-version, Bao 5. You pick five numbers and software picks the sixth from the numbers you left out, creating 40 combinations in Mega 6/45 and 50 in Power 6/55³. It costs a fraction of a full Bao 6 and still covers a lot of ground.

Power 6/55 publishes full payout tables for every Bao size, including what each pays for matching five numbers plus the bonus number, which can be Jackpot 2 plus a fixed sum².

Checking results and claiming prizes

The quickest check is to scan your ticket at a checkwin machine, the countertop terminals at Vietlott points of sale, or to check on the Vietlott SMS app³. Results are also published on vietlott.vn after each draw, and the live TV broadcast shows the numbers as they come up.

You have 60 days from the date the draw result is determined to claim; after that the ticket loses its claim value entirely⁵. Prize claims are accepted only after at least 60 minutes have passed from the official announcement of results on vietlott.vn¹².

How you claim depends on the channel and the size of the win:

• Tickets bought at a point of sale are claimed through Vietlott or its agents, with payment no later than five working days from the date the claim request is received¹².
• Phone-channel tickets are paid into your registered prize-receiving account. The agent sends a payment confirmation notice no later than one day after the draw result, and pays no later than five working days from the date you confirm the account; if you do not confirm within five days, payment goes automatically into the registered account¹².
• Very large wins are handled by Vietlott's head office: terminal-channel tickets worth VND 70 billion or more, and all phone-channel tickets worth VND 6 billion or more, are paid at the head office, which also organizes the prize ceremony¹².

Large prizes in Vietnam are subject to tax on winnings; see our page on tax on gambling winnings in Vietnam for how that works.

Who can play

The games are open to Vietnamese citizens, overseas Vietnamese, and foreigners who have legally entered Vietnam³. Players must be 18 or over¹. There is no separate ticket or different process for visitors: you buy, play and claim the same way as everyone else, and the whole game runs in Vietnamese dong³.

For context, Vietlott's draw games sit in a different category from Vietnam's casinos, which restrict entry for Vietnamese nationals and charge them an entry levy, while foreigners with passports play freely. If you are curious how the two worlds compare, see our pages on casinos in Vietnam and gambling in Vietnam as a visitor.

What the rules do not allow

A few plain limits are worth knowing. You must not be a person with restricted or lost civil act capacity under Vietnamese law, a standard exclusion that applies to both games³. A Bao (system) ticket pays across several prize categories at once, so a single ticket can collect, for example, the Jackpot plus a fixed sum¹. And Vietlott may refuse to pay a prize to someone who was not eligible to play in the first place, so it pays to be sure you qualify before buying⁹.

One practical warning from Vietlott itself: buy only through the two official channels, points of sale and the Vietlott SMS app. Tickets from any other source, including unofficial websites and resellers, may not be honored, and fake-ticket scams do circulate⁸. Our page on betting scams in Vietnam covers the common ones.
