Teleboat, the internet voting and deposit service for Japanese boat racing (BOATRACE), changed how self-declared suspension works from 12 November 2025, the operator said. Under the revision, a member who declares they want to stop using the service is no longer recorded as suspended but instead has a use restriction, meaning a daily deposit limit of 0 yen1.

The operator said the change was tied to a contract revision dated 12 November 20251. A use restriction is defined as setting a cap on the total amount of deposit instructions per day1. From that date, a deposit limit of 0 yen became available to set1.

Members can now set and check a self-declared use restriction themselves on the website, and paper applications are no longer accepted1. The setting page became accessible from 12 November1. A 0 yen limit takes effect immediately after it is set, while a limit set to a specific amount takes effect the following day1.

The rules around changing or lifting a limit are fixed. Increases and requests to cancel a limit cannot be made until six months have passed from the first day of the month after the restriction began1. Reductions are possible at any time, once a day1. A 0 yen limit can stay in place for four years, counted from the last time it was set, and during those four years the contract's "cancellation after one year without a purchase" clause does not apply1. If a member does not lift the restriction after the date it becomes possible, it continues1. The operator said the self-declared deposit restriction system itself is unchanged1.

What it means for players

For anyone using Teleboat to bet on Japanese boat racing, the practical effect is that a self-declared stop is now expressed as a deposit limit rather than a suspension. A 0 yen limit blocks deposits, so no money can be added to the account to fund bets, but the account itself is not canceled. Because the 0 yen setting can run for four years and the one-year inactivity cancellation clause does not apply during that period, an account set this way stays open unless the member acts.

The six-month lock on increases and cancellations means a member who sets a limit cannot undo it quickly, while reductions remain available at any time. Members who previously used paper forms to declare a stop must now use the website, and the setting page is reached through the voting site, the smartphone app, the PC voting site or the BOATRACE official site1. General background on deposit limits, cool-off periods and self-exclusion is set out in the guide to deposit limits, cool-off and self-exclusion tools on gambling sites, and Japan-specific help is listed in gambling help and self-exclusion in Japan.

What happens next

The new setting page opened on 12 November 20251. The operator has not reported any further dates.
