Quick One set-purchase guarantee claim corrected for Draws 167 and 168

The operator of Japan's official lottery website has apologized after a guarantee printed on its Quick One purchase page proved wrong for two draws. The page had stated that buying one set guarantees at least one winning ticket, but the site now says sets of the internet-only national lottery on sale from August 1, Draws 167 and 168, may contain no winner¹.

The correction concerns Quick One, an internet-only national lottery sold through the official site. The operator said the guarantee wording appeared on the Quick One purchase page, and that for these two draws there are cases where not a single winning ticket appears in one set¹.

Customers who bought a set and won nothing before the apology was posted, at 22:00 on August 1, will be contacted individually by the site's office from August 4 onward, using the email address registered on their account. The operator said anyone not contacted by the end of sales in late August should call the call center¹.

The same notice page carries several other changes. The annual "Lottery Day" consolation draw for losing tickets, held each September 2, will end after the 2026 fiscal year¹. The site also warned of phishing emails impersonating it and of an Instagram account imitating its lottery ambassador account¹.

What it means for players

Quick One is sold only online, so the correction affects anyone who bought a set through the official site rather than at a counter. The practical effect is that a set is not a guaranteed minimum return: a buyer can hold a full set and win nothing. The operator has not said what compensation, if any, affected buyers will receive, only that it will contact them¹.

The end of the Lottery Day consolation draw removes a long-running route by which losing tickets could still produce a small prize¹.

What happens next

Buyers who have not heard from the office by then are directed to the call center¹.
