SJM Resorts announced on Monday 28 July 2025 that Casino Grandview will cease operations on 30 July, with all gaming tables to be redeployed to other gambling venues under SJM's license1. The casino sits at Grandview Hotel on Estrada Governador Albano de Oliveira in Taipa and is one of seven satellite casinos operating under SJM's concession1. It closed on the evening of 30 July, with the operator's staff beginning the shutdown and covering the Casino Grandview signage2.

Customers holding chips, deposits or cash rebates accumulated at Casino Grandview that remain unredeemed after closure may visit the cage at Casino Casa Real, SJM said, adding that it "will ensure that all customer entitlements are duly honored"1. A notice posted outside directed customers to the Casa Real cage to handle chips and related matters2.

On staffing, SJM said all local employees it employs will remain employed and be reassigned to other SJM casinos in gaming-related roles according to operational needs1. The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) said it will maintain close communication with the Labour Affairs Bureau "to ensure strict compliance with the commitments made by SJM, specifically the previously presented proposal concerning the remuneration, benefits, and working conditions of the 159 workers assigned by the operator to Casino Grandview"1. The DICJ added that "opportunities will be provided for job transfers to the seven workers recruited directly by the satellite casino itself, in order to guarantee the continuity of their employment"1.

The closure follows a June announcement on the termination of operations at nine of Macau's 11 satellite casinos as the three-year grace period in the gaming law ends1. SJM has said it intends to acquire the premises of two of these casinos, L'Arc and Ponte 16, and operate them directly after the end of the year1. On the final night, only a small part of the Grandview gaming floor was open, with 4 of 14 tables in operation, minimum bets of between MOP 200 and MOP 300, and roughly three to five players at each table2. A Shanghai guest staying at the hotel told Allin that the closure of satellite venues was a loss, describing their lower betting thresholds as a draw for entry-level players2.

What it means for players

Casino Grandview is no longer open, so its tables cannot be played. Anyone still holding Grandview chips, deposits or cash rebates can take them to the cage at Casino Casa Real, per SJM's announcement1. The venue's low minimum bets, recorded at MOP 200 to MOP 300 on its last night, are gone with it; players who used Grandview for small-stakes play will need to look at other Macau venues, where table minimums are set by each operator and are not stated in these announcements2. Macau's satellite casinos operate under the licenses of the six concessionaires rather than holding their own, which is why closures are announced by the concessionaire and supervised by the DICJ1.

What happens next

Casino Grandview was slated to close by 31 December under the June announcement covering nine of the city's 11 satellite casinos1. SJM has said it intends to acquire the premises of L'Arc and Ponte 16 and operate them directly after the end of the year1. No further dates for other SJM satellite closures were given in the 28 July announcement1.
