Bloomberry Resorts Corporation launched the Solaire Resort North in the Vertis North, Quezon City Central Business District in May 2024, an investment of $1 billion1. The opening on May 25, 2024 was attended by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos1.

The property is the second Philippine integrated casino, hotel and entertainment complex for Bloomberry, which also operates the Solaire Resort Entertainment City in Parañaque City. That complex began commercial operations in March 20131. Enrique Razon Jr. has been chairman and CEO of Bloomberry since 2011, and the company's primary business is in the gaming industry1.

Razon is the second richest Filipino, with a net worth of US$10.9 billion, according to the latest Forbes listing of the world's billionaires cited in the report1. He is also chairman and president of International Container Terminal Services Incorporated, described as the Philippines' largest multinational corporation and the world's biggest independent ports operator, handling 32 terminals in 19 countries1.

Bloomberry holds gaming interests abroad as well, including the Jeju Sun Hotel and Casino in Jeju, South Korea1. Razon has said he does not gamble himself. "Hindi ako marunong magsugal. Hindi ko nga alam ang rules eh," he told former broadcaster Anthony Taberna, adding that he lost $200 in under 30 seconds on a try in Las Vegas1.

"Bloomberry invested $1 billion to put up the Solaire Resort North in Vertis North, Quezon City Central Business District, which was launched in May 2024."

What it means for players

The Philippines now has a second Solaire-branded integrated resort, this one in Quezon City rather than the Entertainment City strip in Parañaque. For locals, expats and visitors in the Manila area, that means a casino, hotel and entertainment complex north of the traditional gaming cluster, operated by the same company behind Solaire Resort. Entry rules, games and operating details for the new property have not been reported here. General rules on who may enter Philippine casinos and what they may play are covered in the guide to gambling in the Philippines and in the overview of casinos and integrated resorts in Asia. Bloomberry's South Korean interest, the Jeju Sun Hotel and Casino, sits in a market with its own rules, covered in the guide to gambling in South Korea.

What happens next

No next steps for the Quezon City property have been reported.
