What Thunderbird Rizal is

Thunderbird Resorts and Casinos Rizal is one of the two Philippine casino properties run under the Thunderbird name, the other being the Poro Point resort in La Union. The Rizal property sits in Binangonan, on the eastern side of Metro Manila, and describes itself as one of the premier gaming facilities in Rizal³. It is a resort rather than a standalone casino: the same site lists rooms and villas, restaurants, an events place, promotions and the casino itself¹.

The property is built on a valley about 210 ft above sea level, which is where the views come from. From the resort you look out over the Sierra Madre mountain range, the Manila skyline and Laguna de Bay¹. That setting is the main practical difference between this casino and the big Entertainment City floors on Manila Bay: you are up in the hills, not on the waterfront.

The corporate side of the business is run from Pasig. The head office address is Unit 1701-1703, 17th Floor, The Taipan Place, F. Ortigas Jr. Road, Ortigas Center, 1605 Pasig City, and the listed phone number is (632) 328.7555⁴. If you need to reach the company about a booking, a lost item or a rewards query, that is the office, not the Binangonan resort.

PAGCOR license and the official online casinos

The Rizal casino operates under the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, the country's gaming regulator. PAGCOR licenses both land-based casinos and online platforms, and it publishes the lists you can check before you hand over any money.

Thunderbird Rizal Online is operated by Eastbay Resorts, Inc. and appears on PAGCOR's list of authorized online remote gaming platforms⁵. Its registered domain is www.thunderbirdonlinerizal.com⁶. The Poro Point online brand is licensed separately, under Thunderbird Pilipinas Hotels & Resorts Inc., and uses www.thunderbirdonlineporo.com⁵.

This matters because the online market in the Philippines is full of sites that look official and are not. PAGCOR's own guidance is blunt: check the list of licensees on the PAGCOR website before you access any offshore gaming site⁷. If a site is not on the list, it is not licensed here, whatever its homepage claims.

The same logic applies to the big licensed brands you will see advertised. Okada Online Casino is operated by Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment, Inc. and is licensed by PAGCOR⁸. Solaire Online is run by Bloomberry Resorts and Hotels Inc.⁵. Those names are on the regulator's lists too, which is how you can tell a real brand page from a copy.

The Rizal floor is mid-sized by Philippine standards, and the numbers are published. Rooms, restaurants and other facilities

The Rizal property is a resort, so the casino is one facility among several. The site lists:

The hotel connects to the casino, which means you can walk from your room to the gaming floor without going outside or taking a car³.

Shuttle services run inside the property so guests can move between the hotel, the restaurants and the casino³. If you are staying overnight, that removes the usual question of how to get back to your room after a late session.

The casino itself runs round the clock. The resort invites guests to look forward to round the clock entertainment at its casino³, so there is no closing time to plan around. That is worth knowing if you are driving out from Manila after work: you are not racing a last call.

The events side of the business is active as well, with a dedicated events page for the Rizal casino¹¹. If you are organizing a group visit or a private function, that is the route in rather than turning up with a crowd.

Where it is and how to get there from Manila

The resort is in Binangonan, Rizal, Philippines¹. It describes itself two ways on the same page: as about 45 minutes away from Metro Manila, and as located approximately an hour's drive from Manila¹. Both are honest. The difference is traffic, and on this route traffic is the whole story.

From Makati or the south of the metro: traverse through C5 Road, then turn right onto Ortigas Avenue Extension, drive to East Bank Road and get on Eastridge Avenue to Binangonan¹.

Alternative route: take the Manila East Road from Ortigas Avenue Extension and proceed to Eastridge Avenue¹.

Either way, you will pass the Eastridge Golf Course on the way in¹. That is the landmark to watch for, and it tells you that you are close.

A few practical notes for the drive. The last stretch is uphill into the valley, so allow more time than a flat-road estimate suggests. If you are coming from the north of the metro, joining C5 and then heading east onto Ortigas Avenue Extension is the simplest way to pick up either route. Weekday evenings and weekend mornings are the slowest windows on Ortigas Avenue Extension, which is where the 45-minute and one-hour figures diverge.

Once you are on the property, you do not need the car again. Shuttle services cover the grounds³.

The Poro Point sister resort in La Union

Thunderbird's other Philippine property is in La Union, in the north of Luzon. Thunderbird Resorts and Casinos Poro Point is in Poro Point, La Union¹², and the casino there sits at the same address¹⁰.

The scale is different from Rizal. Thunderbird Resorts Poro Point is a 65-hectare Mediterranean-inspired premier integrated resort in La Union¹³, nestled on a scenic 100-ft cliff at the highest point of the Poro Point Peninsula, overlooking San Fernando Bay and the West Philippine Sea¹³. The property lists rooms and villas, facilities, restaurants, an events place, The Cliffs Golf and Beach Club, promotions and a casino¹³.

The casino floor there is busy. Over 1,000 patrons frequent the casino on a daily basis¹⁰. The games list is the detailed one referenced above: baccarat, roulette and poker across several tables, plus progressive and stand-alone slot machines, electronic gaming machines and table games¹⁰. Multiple tables are dedicated to round-the-clock games including poker, roulette and baccarat¹².

Poro Point also has its own events program¹⁴. If you are choosing between the two properties, the split is straightforward: Rizal is the close-in Manila option for a day trip or an overnight, while Poro Point is a destination resort on the coast, better suited to a longer stay with golf and beach time attached.

Before you go

A few things worth settling before you make the drive.

Check the online brand spelling. If you plan to play online as well as visit, use the registered domains: www.thunderbirdonlinerizal.com for the Rizal brand and www.thunderbirdonlineporo.com for Poro Point⁶. Cross-check against PAGCOR's published list of authorized platforms⁵. PAGCOR's advice to the public is to check its list of licensees before accessing offshore gaming sites⁷.

Plan around the round-the-clock floor. The casino does not close³, so you can arrive late and still play. That also means the quietest hours are early morning, and the busiest are weekend evenings.

Decide whether you are staying over. The hotel connects to the casino³, and the property has rooms and villas¹. If you are driving out from Manila and planning a long session, an overnight removes the drive home from the equation.

Bring ID. Philippine casinos are licensed venues and check identification at the door. Carry the document you used to enter the country or your local ID.
