The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has fully terminated its question-based login method with effect from 3 March 2026, according to the club's official online services page1. Users must now complete the login process using a one-time password received by mobile phone number or through biometric authentication1.

The change applies to the club's betting apps and online channels. Customers of the "HKJC Betting 3-in-1" and "Racing Touch" apps can link their betting account to a personal device using a one-time password sent under the "#HKJC" SMS sender name, after which they no longer need to answer login questions when opening the app1.

The club's page states:

"2026年3月3日起,透過「回答問題」的登入方式已全面終止運作"

Customers who cannot receive the verification SMS because they changed their mobile number, or who have not provided a number, can update the number registered with the club through the "HKJC Betting 3-in-1" app so they can receive the message1. For assistance, the club directs customers to any off-course betting branch or to a racecourse on race days, or to call the dedicated line 3161 5188 or the customer service hotlines 1817 or 18181.

The club also warned about fraudulent messages. It said it will not send any SMS asking customers to upgrade, and will not ask customers to log in or provide personal data through third-party emails, SMS, websites, apps or phone calls1. Customers who receive suspicious messages or calls are directed to call the customer service hotlines 1817 or 1818, or email customer.care@hkjc.com, to verify the identity of the sender or caller1.

Separately, the same page describes a customer service chatbot that answers queries online around the clock using artificial intelligence, covering topics including race results and dividends, app downloads, and betting branch and racecourse restaurant information1. When the assistant cannot answer, customers can transfer to a live online customer service officer1. The chatbot applies to the HKJC online customer center, Racing Touch, eWin and the HKJC Betting 3-in-11.

What it means for players

Anyone holding an HKJC betting account who previously logged in by answering questions must now use a one-time password sent to their registered mobile number, or biometric authentication such as fingerprint or facial recognition1. That means the mobile number registered with the club has to be current and able to receive SMS, since a number that is out of date will block login1. Players who changed numbers can update the registered number through the HKJC Betting 3-in-1 app1.

App users who link their account to a personal device also avoid repeated login steps on that device1.

The club says it never sends SMS asking customers to upgrade or to hand over personal data, so messages of that kind do not come from the club1. Verification is available through the hotlines 1817 or 1818 or by email1.

What happens next

No further dated steps are given on the club's page beyond the 3 March 2026 termination of the question-based login method1. The page does not state whether any other login options will change.
