The Hong Kong Jockey Club has submitted its race schedule for the 2026-27 season to the Home and Municipal Affairs Bureau, and the plan is still under review, according to a report published on July 13, 20261. The schedule will be formally announced once the government approves it1.
The proposed calendar includes four race meetings at Conghua Racecourse in mainland China, the report said1. The tentative dates are October 31, November 21, January 9 and March 61. The report said fuller details will be released at an appropriate time after formal approval1.
"香港賽馬會早前已向民政市務處呈交，來季二〇二六至二七馬季的賽期表，目前仍在審理當中，只待政府批准，便會正式公布"
| Conghua meeting | Tentative date |
|---|---|
| 1 | October 31 |
| 2 | November 21 |
| 3 | January 9 |
| 4 | March 6 |
The report did not state the number of race meetings planned at Sha Tin or Happy Valley, the two Hong Kong tracks, and no total for the season has been reported1. It also did not say when the bureau is expected to decide, or whether the four Conghua dates could change before approval1.
What it means for players
Hong Kong racing is run by the Jockey Club, and betting on its meetings is legal through the club's own channels, which is covered in the guide to betting on horse racing in Hong Kong and the wider look at how Hong Kong gambles. Until the bureau approves the schedule, the four Conghua dates are provisional, so anyone planning around them is working from unconfirmed dates1.
Conghua sits in Guangdong province on the mainland, where gambling is restricted, and the club's mainland operation is explained in the guide to Conghua Racecourse. The report gave no detail on how betting would be handled for those four meetings, and that has not been reported1. For visitors and expats in Hong Kong, the practical effect is that the shape of the coming season, including how many meetings fall at each track, is not yet fixed1.
What happens next
The Home and Municipal Affairs Bureau is reviewing the submitted schedule1. The club will publish the full calendar once approval is granted, and the Conghua details will follow at that point1. No date for the decision has been reported1.
