DAZN ended its live streaming of Oi Racecourse races, including graded races, on December 31, 20221. Oi Racecourse, known as Tokyo City Keiba (TCK), is a local government racing venue in Shinagawa, Tokyo, owned by Tokyo Keiba Co. and operated by the Special Wards Racing Association1.

The end of the DAZN service is recorded as a single line in the venue's history: the streaming finished on that date1. No reason for the decision, no statement from DAZN and no statement from the racecourse operator have been reported.

Television coverage of Oi racing has changed hands over time. Tokyo Metropolitan Television, now TOKYO MX, has broadcast the races since November 6, 19951. From 2019 the broadcasting rights moved to Fuji Television1. The Minami-Kanto regional racing channel also carried live coverage, first on DirecTV and from August 2, 1999 on SkyPerfecTV, now SkyPerfecTV Premium Service1.

Oi is one of four tracks that make up Minami-Kanto public racing, alongside Kawasaki, Urawa and Funabashi1. It is the only right-handed course among the four, and it also runs some races left-handed1. The track opened on May 2, 1950, and the first ward-operated race meeting was held in November that year1. It has a capacity of 60,3501.

What it means for players

For anyone who followed Oi races through DAZN, that route is closed as of December 31, 20221. The venue's own television arrangements are separate: TOKYO MX has carried the races since 1995, and the Minami-Kanto racing channel has also provided live coverage1. Rights to the Tokyo Daishoten, meanwhile, moved to Fuji Television from 2019, after BS11 had broadcast that race through 20181.

Betting at Oi is handled through the operator's own channels rather than through a streaming service. Oi is a member of SPAT4, the telephone and online betting system for the four Minami-Kanto tracks1.

Nothing in the record indicates that the end of DAZN streaming affected betting turnover, admission or the racing calendar.

What happens next

No next steps connected to the end of DAZN streaming have been reported.
