Thailand's Ministerial Regulation No. 17/2569, issued under the Entertainment Complex Act B.E. 2568, was published in the Royal Gazette on 2 July 2569 and takes effect from the date of publication1. The regulation concerns the advertising of entertainment venues and sets conditions on how operators may present information to the public1.

The regulation is titled "Ministerial Regulation No. 17/2569 on Advertising Relating to Entertainment Venues or Entertainment Activities of Entertainment Complex Operators B.E. 2568 (No. 2) B.E. 2569"1. It was issued under Section 17 (1) of the Entertainment Complex Act B.E. 2568, following a resolution of the Entertainment Complex Policy Committee in its meeting No. 2/2569 on 9 January 25691. It was signed on 16 January 2569 by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul1.

The regulation states its purpose as reviewing the advertising of entertainment complex operators relating to entertainment venues or entertainment activities so that they comply with the law, and requiring operators to provide accurate information to the public1. It replaces the text of Section 4 of Ministerial Regulation No. 31/2568 on advertising relating to entertainment venues or entertainment activities of entertainment complex operators B.E. 25681.

The new Section 4 requires entertainment complex operators under Sections 5 and 6 to use names and logos that clearly indicate the entertainment complex business, and any operator wishing to use a different name must register that name in a format that includes the name and logo, is distinctive and not misleading, and shows the nature of the business or activities relating to entertainment venues or entertainment activities1.

What it means for players

The regulation governs how entertainment complex operators advertise, not whether gambling is permitted. It requires operators to present names, logos and information that are accurate and not misleading, and to identify the nature of the business or activities in their advertising1. For locals, expats and visitors in Thailand, the practical effect is on the information they see from operators rather than on the legality of any particular game or venue. The regulation does not set out licensing conditions, entry rules or the games available, and those details are not addressed in the published text1. What happens next

The regulation took effect from the date of publication in the Royal Gazette, 2 July 25691. No further steps, transition periods or enforcement dates are set out in the published text1.
