Thailand's Government Lottery Office sold more than 850,000 digital lottery tickets in the first six hours of sales on 2 June 2022, the office's board chairman Lawaron Saengsanit said, with the Paotang application handling the traffic without going down1.
From 06:00 to 12:00, buyers took more than 850,000 of the 5 million digital tickets on offer for the draw, past 10% of the total, while the number of buyers reached 200,0001. The office said the gap between tickets and buyers showed many people bought more than one ticket, because they were getting tickets at 80 baht as promised1.
"ผลตอบรับในช่วงเช้าวันนี้ดีมาก ระบบไม่ล่ม สำนักงานก็จะค่อย ๆ ทยอยดำเนินการไปค่อยคู่กับระหว่างสลากดิจิทัล และสลากแบบใบ ให้เกิดความสมดุล"
Lawaron said the office would move gradually, running digital tickets alongside paper tickets to keep a balance, and that only 5 million digital tickets would be sold for this draw1. He said a plan to raise digital supply to 40 million tickets within two months would have to be assessed for suitability, because the office wants paper tickets to keep selling without being affected1.
He said digital tickets guarantee a purchase price of 80 baht and let a winner claim a prize immediately through the application1. Separately, an 80 baht ticket shop program will add 1,000 sales points nationwide by July 2022, covering more than 2.5 million tickets, which the office said would put at least 7.5 million tickets at the 80 baht price on the market1.
| Item | Figure |

What it means for players
The Thai Government Lottery now has two channels for the same draw: the paper ticket and the L6 digital ticket sold through the Paotang app. The stated advantage of the digital version is price certainty at 80 baht, against a street market where paper tickets have often sold above face value. The office has not reported how many tickets each buyer may hold, how the 5 million digital tickets are allocated across the draw period, or what happens if the allocation sells out before draw day.
For anyone buying, the digital route also changes how a prize is collected: the office says a winner can claim through the application rather than presenting a physical ticket. That removes the risk of a lost or damaged paper ticket, but it also means the ticket exists only inside an account. The office has not reported what identification or bank account a buyer needs, or how a claim works if a phone is lost.
The 1,000 shop points promised for July 2022 are a separate channel aimed at the same 80 baht price, and the office has not reported where those points will be located.
What happens next
The office said the 80 baht ticket shop program, adding 1,000 points nationwide, is due within July 20221. It said the proposal to expand digital tickets to 40 million within two months still needs a suitability review, and no decision or date for that expansion has been reported1.
