The Genting Rewards Card is the loyalty card of Resorts World Genting, the casino resort at the top of Genting Highlands. If you are planning a trip, it is worth getting one before or during your visit, because the card is required for most transactions around the resort, from casino play to redeeming points at shops and restaurants4. It is free to join, and this page walks you through the tiers, how to sign up, how points work, and the rules that catch people out.
For the wider picture of the resort itself, see the Genting Highlands trip guide and casinos in Malaysia.
Card tiers: Red, Silver, Gold and Platinum
The program has four card tiers, from the entry-level Red Card up through Silver and Gold to the Platinum Card1. Everyone starts at the bottom tier when they join, and the card you hold determines the benefits attached to your membership.
Moving up is tied to how much you play and spend. For every Genting Point you earn in a calendar year, you also earn an equivalent Tier Point, and your Tier Point total is what drives your card status5. So a year of steady spending at participating outlets moves you up through the tiers.
One thing worth knowing: tier upgrades are not automatic. When you qualify for a higher tier, you need to contact the 24-hour Customer Service counter at the resort to verify your profile and process the upgrade yourself6. Nobody will hand you a Gold Card on the spot just because you crossed the threshold, so if you think you have earned one, go and ask.
There is also a card for younger members. If you joined before turning 21, you may hold a SkyClassic Card, and you can keep using it after you turn 21 for non-casino spending. But if you want to play at the resort casino, you must switch to a Casino Card, and any remaining Genting Points transfer across to the new card6.
How to sign up and where
Joining is free7, and there are three ways to do it2:
- At any Guest Services counter at the resort
- Online, through the Genting Rewards website
- Through the RWG (Genting) mobile app
Whichever route you choose, you must present a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a Malaysian identity card or a passport8. For foreign visitors, a passport is what you will be using, and you will need it anyway for casino entry, so keep it handy.
If you sign up online or in the app, the process is not finished when you submit the form. You receive a verification email, and you must click the "Activate my account" link within seven days of the email being sent2. Miss that window and you will have to start again, so it is worth doing on the spot while you still have your phone in hand.
When you set up your account, your credentials must meet the following requirements:
| Credential | Requirement | Where it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Account password | 8 to 15 characters, containing both letters and numbers6 | Set up when you create your account |
| Card PIN | 6 to 8 digits, all numbers8 | Used with your membership card |
| Old 4-digit PIN | Must be updated to at least 6 digits8 | Update in person at slot machines, electronic table game machines, iKiosks, the RWG app or the Genting Rewards Centre |
A few eligibility points, said once here. You must be at least 18 years old to join the program, but casino-related membership is only open to those aged 21 and above3. Membership is not available to Malaysian Muslims1. Applications are all subject to approval by the operator at its sole discretion, so submitting a form does not by itself guarantee you a card9.
Where and how you can redeem points
Genting Points can be used at selected outlets across Resorts World Genting, including shops, restaurants and attractions6. The earn rate is simple: 1 Genting Point for every RM100 spent at participating outlets5. Points are only awarded for payments made by cash, credit card or GeMCash, so if you pay some other way, that spend earns nothing2.
At the point of sale, there are three ways to redeem8:
- Tap your physical membership card
- Show a QR code membership in the Resorts World Genting app
- Give the mobile phone number registered to your Genting Rewards account
You will be asked for your PIN for all points redemption transactions at participating outlets, so have it memorized rather than written on the card8. The PIN also comes into play with the card's e-Cash functions: no PIN is needed to top up your GeM balance, but a PIN is required for any refund of unused GeM, and for spending transactions of RM250 and above10.
You can load money onto the card as electronic cash. Qualified card members can transfer funds online into their personal e-Cash account via FPX online banking11, and there is no refundable deposit for topping up your GeM balance, whether through the card or through FPX in the app10. Funds accepted this way can only be used for top-up to your own personal e-Cash account, following the steps and in the areas the operator designates11.
Points and cashless payments also work in the resort's arcades. All Arcades is a cashless game park that accepts debit and credit cards, QR Pay, e-wallets and Genting Points at its self-service ticketing kiosks and counters12. So if you have been accumulating points from dining or shopping, the arcade is one place to spend them.
If your card is lost or stolen, it can be replaced, but you will have to pay a fine set by the operator at the time, either in cash or by deduction of Genting Points from your account9. Treat the card like cash.
SkyCasino entry and the card
SkyCasino is the casino at SkyAvenue, the main mall at Resorts World Genting, sitting near the Genting Rewards counters and the Skytropolis indoor theme park13. In the resort's floor plan directory it is listed at unit T2A-01 on SkyAvenue Level 214.

For foreign visitors, entry requires your passport and a Genting Rewards card, and the card is free for first-time visitors15. In practice this means you register at a membership counter, show your passport, get your card, and then walk in. The minimum age for the casino is covered earlier on this page, and it applies to everyone regardless of nationality or race16.
The card is genuinely central to the casino experience: a Genting Rewards card is required for most transactions on the floor, and you can obtain one at the membership counters on-site4. If you arrive without one, the counters are your first stop.
Inside the casino, the poker room sits in the SkyCasino Gold Club, and cash games carry a 5% rake4. For the dining options, Good Luck Restaurant is located in SkyCasino itself, with a smart casual dress code16. If you are coming from elsewhere on the mountain, the resort has run a shuttle service to SkyCasino at SkyAvenue so guests can keep playing when other gaming areas were closed for upgrades17, and SkyCasino itself has continued operating as normal through those works18.

Program rules worth knowing
A few rules of the program are worth knowing in advance, because they are the ones that trip people up.
One card per member. Each member may hold only one type of Genting Rewards Card19. You cannot hold a Red Card and a Gold Card at the same time to double up on benefits.
One supplementary card for a spouse. Eligible members can apply for one supplementary card for their lawful spouse19. All supplementary cards are bound to the primary card's status, so if the primary card changes tier, the supplementary card changes with it6.
No merging accounts. Combining membership accounts to pool earning or redemption of benefits is prohibited, and violators can have their benefits canceled and their membership terminated19. This is the rule that catches couples or families trying to speed up a tier upgrade.
The card is personal. It can only be used by the person it was issued to9. Lending it to a friend or family member can lead to unexpected consequences, including termination of your membership8. Keep it in your own wallet.
Old logins are being phased out. Since April 26, 2018, members who sign in with their membership ID and PIN number are prompted to update to a unique email address and password6. If you have an old account, expect to be pushed through this change.
Responsible gaming tools. Two tools are built into the card system. Set Limits lets members who meet the casino's minimum age cap their play, and only play on electronic gaming machines such as slots and electronic table games using the card counts toward the time and spending limits20. The Kill Switch immediately blocks your membership card on request, suspending points redemption, e-Cash and GeM use, voucher redemption, mobile check-in and digital key access until you reactivate it in person8. Both are free to use and can be set up through your account.
Points are not cash. Genting Points are earned and redeemed within the resort's own outlets, and the program's terms govern how they can be used. The earn rate of 1 GP per RM100 at participating outlets5, the cash/credit/GeMCash payment requirement2, and redemption at selected outlets6 together define the whole loop: spend at the resort, earn points, spend the points back at the resort.

Common Questions
How do I get a Genting Rewards Card as a first-time visitor?
Sign up at any Guest Services counter at the resort, online, or through the RWG (Genting) mobile app. Membership is free. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID such as a passport or Malaysian identity card, as you must show it when applying.
How many Genting Points do I earn per ringgit spent?
You earn 1 Genting Point for every RM100 spent at participating outlets. Points are only awarded for payments made by cash, credit card, or GeMCash, so other payment methods will not earn you anything.
Can I hold more than one Genting Rewards Card?
No. Each member may hold only one card tier. You can apply for one supplementary card for your lawful spouse, but combining membership accounts to pool points or benefits is prohibited and can get your membership terminated.
What payment methods qualify for earning Genting Points?
Only cash, credit card, and GeMCash purchases earn Genting Points. If you pay another way, such as with a third-party e-wallet, the spend does not count toward your points balance.
How old do I have to be to join Genting Rewards?
You must be at least 18 years old to join the program. Casino-related membership, which you need to play at the resort casino, is only open to those aged 21 and above.
How long do I have to activate my account after signing up?
After you receive the verification email, you must click the "Activate my account" link within seven days. If you miss the deadline, you will need to go through the sign-up process again.
Can I use the Genting Rewards app instead of a physical card?
Yes. You can redeem points with a QR code membership in the Resorts World Genting app, or by giving your registered mobile phone number at the point of sale. A physical card works too, and you can hold both.
