Thailand's Government Lottery Office (GLO) has added a "digital lottery panel" channel that lets its contracted agents sell digital lottery tickets directly to the public through the website www.glolotteryshop.com, with sales starting on 17 March 20241. The announcement was made by GLO director Lieutenant Colonel Noon Sansanakom and reported by the Public Relations Department's Region 4 office on 20 March 20241.
Tickets sold through the new panel channel cost 80 baht each with no service fee, the office said1. Buyers can also purchase six-digit digital lottery tickets themselves through the Paotang application at 80 baht per ticket1.
At the same time, the GLO warned the public against buying tickets from dealers that are not official contracted agents, saying such sales now appear through a variety of channels including online platforms and automatic vending machines1.
"สำนักงานฯ ไม่มีนโยบาย หรือ ทำสัญญากับตัวแทนจำหน่ายในลักษณะดังกล่าว"
The office said buying through those channels risks losses if the buyer does not take possession of the government lottery ticket, and that a winning ticket bought that way may not be redeemable, a situation it said has already occurred1. It also said buyers may be taken advantage of by paying more than 80 baht per ticket1.
The GLO further warned agents and advance-booking buyers that reselling tickets through online platforms, websites or vending machines violates the conditions of their contracts and the rules for receiving tickets to sell, and that the office has the right to terminate the contract1.
What it means for players
The 80 baht price and the absence of a service fee apply to tickets bought through the official digital channels named by the office: the Paotang application and the new agent panel site1. Anyone buying Thai lottery tickets through other online platforms or vending machines is outside the contracted system, and the office says a winning ticket bought that way may not be redeemable1. The office also says buyers outside that system may pay more than the 80 baht price1. For locals, expats and visitors in Thailand, the distinction the office draws is between tickets held through its own channels and tickets bought from parties it says it has no policy or contract with1. How buyers verify whether a particular seller is a contracted agent has not been reported.
What happens next
The office said it has the right to terminate the contract of agents who resell tickets through online platforms, websites or vending machines1. No further dates or enforcement steps were given.
