Macau authorities removed COVID-19 related protective measures

Wynn Resorts (Macau), S.A. reported total operating revenue of MOP 29.60 billion for 2024, up 18.4 percent on 2023, in an annual business report published by Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ)1. The company attributed the increase mainly to higher gaming volume and restaurant traffic, and stated that visitor arrivals to Macau had risen continuously since the authorities lifted COVID-19 related protective measures in January 20231.

Both offer 24-hour gaming1. The company said it is in the design stage of Wynn Palace's next phase, which it currently expects to include a theater and expanded event space, specialty dining and other non-gaming offerings1.

Separately, DICJ published monthly and full-year gross gaming revenue figures on January 1, 20242. Inbound visitor arrivals for January to November 2023 recovered to about 70 percent of the same period in 2019, a higher recovery rate than casino revenue2.

What it means for players

The figures describe a market that has grown for two consecutive years but has not returned to its 2019 level. For visitors, the practical picture is a full complement of tables and machines across two large Cotai and peninsula resorts, both running 24-hour gaming1. For anyone planning a trip, the Macau guide covers entry and play rules, and the visitor guide covers crossings and cash rules. Players looking at lottery-style products rather than casino tables can check whether Toto Macau and New Macau Mark Six are official.

What happens next

The company said it is in the design stage for the next phase of Wynn Palace, with no opening date given1. Macau's 2024 budget casino revenue target is MOP 216 billion2.
