First draw period of Digital Lottery tickets

Thailand's Government Lottery Office put the first draw period of its digital lottery on sale on 16 June 2022, with tickets priced at 80 baht each and sold through the state Paotang application¹. The office said at least 5 million tickets would be offered, and that 10,513 agents had been appointed to sell them¹.

The digital tickets are sold every day from 06:00 to 23:00. On draw days, sales open at 06:00 and close at 14:00¹. Buyers can choose single tickets or sets¹. The office said the first draw period went on sale on 16 June 2022, with an earlier first day of sales on 2 June 2022 through agents¹.

Buyers must be at least 20 and must register on the Paotang app and complete the identity verification the app requires¹. Once payment is made, ownership passes to the buyer alone and the ticket cannot be resold¹. Payment is made by scanning a QR code and confirming with a six digit code, within a set payment period¹. The system stores a payment receipt on the buyer's phone¹.

Tickets that do not win in a given draw can be collected in person at the Government Lottery Office before the next draw date, if the buyer wants the physical ticket¹.

What it means for players

The digital lottery is a state-run channel for buying Thai government lottery tickets at a fixed 80 baht, sold through the Paotang app rather than through street vendors or online platforms¹. The office presents it as a way to avoid overpriced tickets and unverified online sellers, and says ownership and prize payment are secure¹. Access depends on having the app, passing identity verification and being at least 20¹. Because ownership transfers to the buyer and resale is barred, tickets bought this way cannot be passed on to someone else¹. Sales hours are limited, and close at 14:00 on draw days¹.

What happens next

The first draw period went on sale on 16 June 2022¹. No further draw dates, prize amounts or expansion of the ticket volume beyond the stated minimum of 5 million tickets have been reported¹.
