Racetrack and Call Bets in Roulette: 5 Best Tips

Roulette is one of the gambling industry‘s most popular casino table games. It is an exciting game for betting where players wait for the result of every spin with hopes of winning. But there are more features that players can enjoy when playing roulette. The racetrack and call bets are additional roulette features that few people decided to learn more about.

Racetrack and call bets raise a lot of questions, such as what exactly are they? How can players utilize them? What are the benefits of using them? To answer some of these questions, some racetrack and call bet information as part of your roulette tips to increase your winnings.

Roulette Racetrack and Call Bets

The roulette game features racetrack and call bets as another option for placing your bets. There are specific bets that use particular sets of numbers that do not require the standard placing of wagers in a roulette game.

Roulette games offer racetrack and call bets more frequently in European and French roulette games than in their American counterpart. If you place a French roulette and racetrack simultaneously, the racetrack numbers will copy the layout on a roulette wheel.

When you play online roulette, you will see a section of the board resembling a racetrack with numbers. The racetrack would usually have call bets in the form of Tiers du Cylindre, Orphelins, and Voisins de Zero, betraying the game's French origins.

The Racetrack

A roulette racetrack tends to become an option for online gaming more than the traditional table game in a casino. Racetracks are roulette features where you can place call bets online, giving you more betting options than conventional land-based casinos. The track has an oval shape and contains a special layout of numbers, which many people think has no reason or rhyme. But it does have a purpose, especially in placing bets.

The racetrack has two parts that function effectively: the outside and the inside. The outside part allows neighbor bets, while the inside enables call bets. The racetrack layout consists of numbers 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25, 17, 34, 6, 27, 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, 33, 1, 20, 14, 31, 9, 22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, and 26 reading left to right.

Most roulette tables use the same racetrack layout and design, although there are also alternatives available. Even if some roulettes use different designs and layouts, the concept is still the same, with the order of numbers in every roulette table.

The table's dealer would usually call out the call bets associated with the racetrack. But if you use online roulette platforms, there is no need for dealers. Roulette racetracks have four different types of call bets:

Zero or Jeu Zero

Almost all gamblers would not bet on the zero number as the sole number in roulette because it has one of the highest edges connected with the game. If you select Jeu Zero and call the bet, you will bet on the green zero and the other six numbers on the wheel closest to it. The four sides on this call bet are 12, 35, 3, and 26, and the two on its sides are 15 and 32.

Players will use four chips that cover the seven numbers with one chip on 0 and 3, 12 and 15, 32 and 15, plus a straight-up bet on number 26. The Jeu Zero call bet can give you chances of winning if the ball stops on any of those numbers after spinning. Players will target the ball to stop in the 26 pockets to receive a 35/1 payout because it is a straight wager. The remaining numbers can give a 17/1 reward because of the split. You will also have higher chances of winning by covering the seven numbers at once in single bets than by wrapping each digit in a straight bet.

Le Tiers du Cylindre or Tier

Le Tiers du Cylindre or Tier is one of the classic French roulette bets, and it is available for all players of roulette. This call bet covers one-third of the roulette wheel and uses six chips to cover the possible 12 numbers. The 12 numbers run from green to zero, 27 to round 33. It includes numbers 27, 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, and 33.

Every chip you use in this call bet is a split bet, such as 10 and 11 would go together, 5 and 8 go together as well, 13 and 16 combined, 23 and 24 will be split bet on, 27 and 30 bets together, and the 33 and 36 as well. The win you will receive from betting will have a payout of 17/1, but you will lose five chips in this type of betting.

This racetrack call bet covers the numbers grounded in the center of the racetrack: 1, 20, 14, 31, 9, 17, 34, and 6 on either side of this set of numbers. The last three numbers in the set go to one side of the racetrack, while the rest of the numbers are on the opposite side.

You need to utilize your five gambling chips to offset all the eight orphelins numbers. Players can place a straight-up bet on the number 1, while bets on 6 and 9, 17, 17 and 20, and 31 and 34 are split bets, which would need two bets on number 17 and a straight bet on number 1, which will have larger winnings if the ball lands on them.

Voisins du Zero or Voisins

Voisins du Zero or Voisins is a racetrack call bet players can bet as neighbors of zero. Similar to Jeu Zero call bets, Voisins call bets use bigger sets of numbers close to zero, which means that the numbers that are not Orphelins or Tier options run from 22 up to 25 on the opposite side. Voisins call bets cover 17 numbers, giving you better chances of winning higher payouts compared to the other racetrack call bets.

The voisins call bets have seven separate bets that cost nine chips to utilize all the involved 17 numbers. There will be two chips on the set's 0, 2, and 3 selections, which will give a payout of 11/1. Two chips on the corners will surround 25, 26, 28, and 29 and provide a payout of 8/11. The last five chips will have two splits that can give payouts of 17/1, in numbers 4 and 7, 12 and 15, 18 and 21, 19 and 22, and 32 and 35.

All of these racetrack call bets are in French, and they all represent the visual side of the racetrack because it looks like the actual oval racetrack.

How to Play Roulette

To play a game of roulette, you need to purchase chips first to use them in placing your bets on the betting layout. It is different from other casino table games because every roulette player will obtain chips in different colors so that the other players and croupiers can easily identify the owners of those chips. Online roulette and multi-player games also use this setup in playing roulette.

Players will place their bets directly on the roulette table and in various formats. Some of the most common bets for roulette are:

Single Number – Players can have their bets on a single number or many single numbers and provide a payout of 35/1. You can also place bets on the number zero.

Two Numbers – Players place their bets on the line in the middle of two numbers. It gives a payout of 17/1 in spinning either number.

Corner Bet – A bet placed on the four squares' corners and gives a payout of 8/1 in choosing any of the four numbers.

Red/Black – A type of bet where players can place their bets on their preferred color. Winning this bet will give a payout of 1/1.

Odd/Even – Comparable to red/black, this type of bet will let you choose the next number if it's odd or even and also gives a payout of 1/1.

1-18/19-36 – Players can place their bets in 1 to 18 or 19 to 36, and it gives a payout of 1/1.

Dozens – Players can place their bets on whether the following number would be in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd dozen. This type of bet provides a payout on 2/1.

Columns – The roulette layout in this type of bet is in three columns, where players can freely bet on any of the columns. This bet provides a 2/1 payout.

Final Thoughts

Roulette players can place their bets on any bet in various positions on the layout. The racetrack and call bets are a great way of earning more in playing roulettes. It gives more fun and excitement in hopes of hitting your bets and larger payouts using your knowledge and strategies. The game's simplicity increases its appeal to most gamblers and its many opportunities to win bets.
