Especially the NBA, where people nowadays are more conscious about statistics and in-depth details about their favourite teams and players. It's a good thing that there are podcast shows that provide such entertainment for basketball fans. Here are some of the best podcasts for basketball worth listening to:
The Ringer NBA Show
A podcast show that offers daily news and details about significant developments in the NBA, The Ringer was launched in 2016 and had an entire staff of 43. Their content area is primarily concentrated on pop culture, sports, and a few with politics and technology. The HBO Network is an initial investor in the podcast.
The Ringer ventured into a partnership with Vox Media, which renders advertising and technology. Vox Media gave access to its in-house publishing platform when they handled the advertising sales. The editorial staff of the Ringer voted to unionize alongside Writers Guild of America East and days later, the Ringer's management voluntarily recognized it.
The Starters
Formerly known as “The Basketball Jones,” The Starters is written and hosted by Australian Leigh Ellis, American Trey Kerby, and Canadians Tas Melas and Phil Elder (J.E. Skeets). The audio-only podcast is currently broadcasted on NBA TV and is also available on YouTube. The show is produced and edited by Canadians Matt Osten and Jason Doyle.
The show features a regular segment called “Wanker of the Week,” where it focuses on an NBA personality and discuss several topics and argued over it in a “lightning-round” format. It also paid attention to bloggers who maintained web pages of their respective NBA teams.
The Herd with Colin Cowherd
This podcast features amusing daily segments like “Two for the Road” and Rants of the Day,” and it presents an up-to-date commentary on the most critical sports issues, interviews with notable personalities, and point of view on the top stories.
Colin Cowherd hosts the show. He is a sports media personality who began his career in broadcasting as a sports anchor on some TV stations and as a sports director of Las Vegas television station KVBC before joining ESPN in 2003 where he hosted on the ESPN Radio Network for a radio show. Cowherd also became one of the ESPN's television program SportsNation as one of the original hosts.
The Herd is Fox Sports' top-rated studio program which was simulcast initially on ESPNU and ESPN Radio until Cowherd's departure from the network. When Cowherd joined Fox Sports, the show transferred to the Premiere Networks-distributed Fox Sports Radio network.
CBS Sports Eye On College Basketball Podcast
This podcast show is hosted by Matt Norlander and Gary Parrish, who delivers reports, commentaries, statistical analyses, and insider details throughout college basketball. The show is CBS Sports' official podcast for college basketball with an upscale entertainment and information.
